ORIGINAL: sirsholly I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I had a carpel tunnel release on both hands about a year ago. The pain, numbness and loss of control has reoccured in one hand, requiring more surgery. I know the first surgery was successful since i was symptom free for almost a year. We practice moderate bondage..nothing heavy like suspension...with fleece lined wide leather cuffs. Does anyone know if there is a relation between the reccurence and bondage? Thanks so much in advance for any/all info! holly Before singling out bondage as the cause, you should also look at your general lifestyle; do you keyboard, daily, how many hours a day?? If you do keyboard a lot, is your keyboard setup flat or did you put the feet up under it? Your keyboard should either be flat or better yet, in a keyboard tray and tipped down so your hand and wrists can remain relatively straight with no bend in the wrists to strain them. If you have a mouse, I highly recommend changing it out with a good quality track ball, which allows your hand to relax and you can customize it to fit your needs. Once you get used to it, you will hate going back to an old fashioned mouse because it gives hand cramps or as we called it "the claw". I have been a heavy use keyboarder for 25 years, at least 10 hours a day, and whenever I get carpel tunnel symptoms, I treat them quickly by wrapping the wrist and putting a band on the upper forearm (for tennis elbow). Ice can be beneficial but it is the ergonomic changes that will minimize your discomfort at the keyboard. You may want to wrap your wrists with a support, similar to those used at the Gym, before placing them into bondage. best wishes to you
