Yea, nuns and rulers, and something related, definitly kinked me.

But then, I grew up, began my own spiritual search ( a long, hard journey ) and learned to sit in silence and witness reality. It's amazing. It can, sometimes, take me to a place ( although words are inadequate in regards to this ), where...everything disappears, except for an unbelievable experience of peace and benevolence. Mind blowing. Yet, it's the place that, all my life, through various searches, experiences, drugs, etc., I'd been searching for. And, kinda ironically, it's availabe to everyone at anytime.

I know peeps get there various way. I know a Viet Nam vet who told me of his experience "getting there" serendipidously on a chopper flight to a combat mission. Certainly not a quiet, peaceful , contemplative moment for him, but, apparently, it focused the mind. Did for him.

The journey is, in itself, a wonderful thing, imho. It happens as it does, and, if one is lucky, one "grabs" the ring... and then , of course, when one grasps, thering , the ring goes, phhooot.

Great thread. I've enjoyed all y'all's input.

Great question, I would say spirituality is not part of my kink, it is part of my life, and I engage in a conscious contact with a power greater than myself daily.....but I am just a kinky guy trying to live well.-Fuck oh dear I don't know if I just made sense, hang on.......yeah that made  some sense.

Bottom line no I am not seeking spriritual fullfilment in BDSM, but emotional and sexual fullfilment.Perhaps it's all the same, I claim AT BEST to be a spiritual midget(oops, little person lol), but at least I try on a daily basis- Be well, OD

Spirituality is a part of every single moment of every single thing I do in my life. Spirituality is who I am.

So that means yes it is included in my "kink" whatever that is. Spirituality is my life, it is me.

i also don't believe i can separate my spiritual self from me... i AM spiritual.

The way I see it, there are basically two types of people in any walk of life. Spiritually oriented, and otherwise.

Dom/sub whatever, it's obvious when one walks a spiritual path......

I live and breath my spirituality in all aspects of who I am. I am also a reiki master in several reiki paths. I am also a Jew and a witch. I am also a Hawaiian Healer, as well as a crystal healer. I am also a psychic, who has her Rabbi's blessings. I am also a submissive. I am a parent. I am a widow and I am Sir David's submissive. I am a sharer of my life with domestic animals, right now a cat. I have had birds, dogs and an ocelot throughout my life, with also a variety of cats who adopted me. I am one you will find in the kitchen with her cauldron. I am a crone. I am human. Yet I am more then just labels and less then just labels, for the all that I am is all that is part of the Cosmic Source.

personally i do not have a religious bone in my body, but consider myself to be very spiritual.

You can call it semantics, but there is a huge difference between the two.

No religion or spirituality here, just me enjoying life as I see fit. Unless you get me very drunk, in which case I can assign all kinds of spiritual meaning to what are essentially the laws of physics.

oddly enough being a pagan has helped me alot recently. im not sure if its just through meditation and reflection of where im at right now or that somehow paganism requires alot of listening, but ive kinda reached a place where paganism and submission seem to make sense together (for me anyway).

submitting to the moment when the moment is wet, windy, freekin' cold and its getting dark and waiting for something or nothing or ending up with a wet arse and a cold nose has helped me to focus away from my immediate needs and just sink into the space im in.

switching off my brain and letting it all go has been really useful to me.

What do people mean by spirituality? If we're talking about introspection and contemplation then yes. But if we're talking about magic crystals and convincing my sub that my semen is made of rainbows then no.

All I know is that I live by 'An it harm none, do what ye wilt," so as long as what I am doing harms no one, I'm free to enjoy it.  And so I do.  Immensely.  And by being submissive to One, I feel more fulfilled than I ever have before in my entire life.  [:D]

Many commonalities between D/s and the spiritual traditions, especially the mystic offshoots. If your looking to transcend quotidian existence, D/s could definitely do it. If you're just into feeling good, well that's possible, too, but I think that would be settling for too little.

There is definitely a lot of spirituality when I Dom.  Energy flows from within me to my sub be it male or female.  The energy is shared sometimes not even of a sexual nature.  My touch play is tantric and tantric play is very spiritual.  I recently found out that my play style was tantric and in turn I started to learn more about it.  Everything we do in life has a spiritual significance we just may not realize it.  Each time we touch the soul or spirit of another human even just to make the smile or laugh we brighten them spiritualy.  I know for me if I Dom or sub either way without a spiritual connection to my partner even as just friends I won't enjoy the play.   But that is just me.
