"Eight Belles" is the name of the horse that came in second in the Kentucky Derby.  Broke both front ankles just after crossing the finish line (in 2nd).  Collapsed on the track. The track vet said it was so bad they could not splint and could not transport. They euthanized the horse on the track.

I live a short drive from Charles Town RaceTrack and have seen several horses put down and it rips your heart out.  No warning that their legs are going to go out, and then you get the trucks with the green screens on them to hide the euthanization from view.  If you are in the grandstands inside, you can still see them do it at times.

i hate that race horses are bred with legs like toothpicks.  it makes me physically ill to watch a horse so brainwashed it will continue to try to run on broken legs.  saw it once many yrs ago, horse broke both front legs but kept on running with his forelegs flying around, landing on the broken bones with each step.  made me sick, literally.  i refuse to even watch horse racing ever since.

Is ok, holly.... i gotta say i'm getting mighty sick of this though. I've done my usual stuff with no results tonight. Last resort is an Ambien sleeping pill from the doc (yuck, yuck, YUCK!!!) which I might have to break down and take. But i don't wanna.... [:(] [:(] [:(]
