i did get a concussion, filled out the papers but did NOT get a note from the doc saying to stay home.  i needed the money so i worked today...ended up getting laid off but what the fuck i guess.  maybe the concussion is cushioning the blow.


You should have. They cant fire someone who is out on workmans comp. Its against the law. I was seeing someone that a few years back his employer did a massive layoff. he wasnt part of it because he was out from a torn bicep. He knew his job was eliminated and was getting a severance package. But because he was out on disability for many onths they could not officially lay him off til it was over. He ended up getting rehired by a fluke meeting with the president at an electronics store.But its also horrible to be left behind when there is massive layoffs and they are expecting those they kept to do the work of 10 people.

But then I live in a "right to work" state. They dont even need a reason. They can fire you for any or nothing.

I hate that about Florida. Gives you no leg to stand on when getting canned.

Not in the arms of my Sweets...   I hate that He had a bad day today, and I couldn't even cheer Him up by saying "It's ok. You get to come home from work to me!"    I hate that He must have fallen asleep or something after I asked Him to get online and talk to me, since He never did.   After the week I had, I could have used His hugs and kisses.

Yep, so is Virginia.  Most states are nowadays.  It works both ways.  The employer does not have to have "cause" to terminate your employment, and the employee does not have to have "cause" to leave.  But it's still in the best interest of the employee who chooses to leave, to give notice rather than just walking out.  One of the few questions that potential employers are allowed to ask a past employer is whether or not the person would be eligible for re-hire.  Giving a place no notice and just walking out is equal to career suicide most of the time.

Status: offline 		I hates it when I spend all day futzing with linux installs, only to realize that this intricate server setup I had before has gone up in smoke just like the dinosaurs. And every time I think I may have found my original notes I find that it's just the junk taunting me. This must be why I stopped futzing with the damned thing over a year ago!

LOL!!!

I attended one of his rope workshops. He is so passionate about it and ensuring the safety of those being tied up. I wouldn't mind being a demo for him any time. :) I had this mini carabiner that came with a set of mini-pens that I wanted to give him as sort of a gag gift the next time I saw him. Alas, I forgot to bring it. Ack! He's also got a fair bit between the ears too...he is very inspiring to listen to. But then again, you know all of this. :P

I wish!!
My house is actually the neighborhood safe house- I can't tell you how many different kids have found a safe place and couch for the night. I've had some stay for weeks.
 
All his friends tell him how good he has it with me as his mom, yet he still insists on treating me like the enemy- and doing REALLY stupid things.
 
Honestly, if his father were alive, I'd ship him off. He needs to learn some reality of life.
 
He wants to join the Marines, too- but he needs a HS diploma for that and he's in the process of messing that up too.
 
My mantra is- 3 more years, 3 more years.... (and hopefully, Master retains His patience with the whole situation.)
