I hate it that the new phrase to say to me seems to be, "If only we had met..."

If only we had met 3 weeks ago...
If only we had met last year....
If only we had met yesterday...

The phrases that follow are varied, from "I would have asked you to move into my then-empty house and rent it from me" to "I would have hired you in this kick-ass position with benefits" to "I would have asked you to be my girl/would have really liked to get to know you better/would have rethought moving away"...

I'm not quite sure which of those phrases sucks more. And definitely NOT in that good slutty way that we like.

Actually, I'm looking into Outward Bound- type programs for the summer.

I have heard of the programs, seems pretty interesting, could well help, sometimes they do need a strong reality check.

When the same son I mentioned early got in his "trouble" and wasnt doing what the judge said, The judge said you want motivation, I will give you motivation and sent him off to "Boot Camp" for teens that needed a clue x 4. 90 days of training, displine and nothing less that stellar conduct, he came out buffed up and ready to tackle te world.
Unfortunately it wasnt long lived and he slip back into the down side of his bi-polar.The judge knew he wasnt bad kid tho, while he was set for 2 yearof probation, he didnt seem to be able to keep up with his community service, fees and restitution. The judge did allow him to extend it although it took him twice as long. Did mom ever pay a penny, oh hell no. His offence wasnt anything major, but none the less he got caught.

Had he actually finished high school (quit at the end of 11th grade besause he was bored,,,very high IQ and not got into trouble, the armed services would have loved to have him at a premium price even. Thats one things he does regret. He would have done great things I would like to think. But that way before all this Iraq stuff and their standards were alot higher even for the Army.

I so hate that every day he struggles and get angry at himself and was turning to drink to make up for it. Now he is paying that price, but on the good side they put him in a mandatory mental health program so he is meds required which is helpin.

I love my boy, but the things he has done makes me want to throttle him, but I also know somethings he couldnt help. He does live with my mom to help provide for her when he can, so at least I know he is in most excellant hands.

I will never give up on him being very successful someday, using his high intelliegnce and finding himself productive and well.

Never stop trying honie and always remind him that you love him regardless even if your decisions are not what he wants

I've looked into "boot camps"- the only ones are for kids in the juvenile justice system (he's not there, thank god). One of his issues is that he does have more than a bit of ADHD, but I don't want it diagnosed and medicated because the Marines won't take him if it is. I just have to make sure he gets a HS diploma and then it's Parris Island for him (this is HIS career choice, btw).

His intelligence has gotten him thru school until now, but now, his attention deficit is overtaking- he's a freshman in HS and the demands are such that he shuts down and just doesn't do the work that he is perfectly capable of doing. And he's discovered alcohol.

We are trying to prevent him from deteriorating more. Mine is a good kid, too. Polite and respectful to all other adults (other than me); he's funny and personable- quite the comedian. I think if I can get him safely through the next few years, he will come out ok. I have my work cut out for me. And I am grateful for the outlet of coming here and screaming my frustrations!!!!

Hejira... not that I'm a paragon of anything, but fwiw, I was an absolute monster as a teen. It took ages, but I did finally get my shit more or less together... hang in there, sweet lady... he'll be fine :)

Yes, the are for those in the system, although he had already turned 18 by the time he was charged they still sent him though. Of course years later after that I believe they were shut down because of a couple of heat (TX related deaths and not watching out for other medical signs.

Oh honie I so hope he doesnt thing drinking is self medicating. I dontblame you for trying to nip it in the bud, I have 2 *sighs* that do that way to often now as adults.

I dont blame you for trying to keep it out of his medical records...since I know how the military system works, they will dig deep for that stuff.

I hope he starts to realize that his future career is directly related to his actions now. Keep reminding him his future depends on him keeping control.

*hugs* He is at a hard age and others can influence that unfortunately.

herjira there are schools out there, privately run schools with a strong emphasis on discipline. Outward Bound type places can turn around a kid heading in the wrong direction. I think Outward Bound even has short 'courses', while others can be several years.

If you do choose something like this please please do research to the nth degree. Decline places that refuse to let you walk around and talk to those that go there, find 'alumni' and talk to them.

Look up 'Straights' as an example of the type of place to stay far away from.

I cannot imagine the pain from a parental view, watching your UM barreling down a path that you know will lead to bad places. Sometimes last resort places are needed, that is not a failure on the parents part when all other avenues have been tried.

Regrettably I have experience with the bad places. If this is something you are thinking about doing please feel free to contact me. I have a lot of links and know of several forums. I know some of the things that indicate places that don't cause positive change.

I Hate that I am coming late to the threads due to homework...sigh.

I hate that hejira can't send her Um to me for a bit of refocusing...I don't hit, I don't yell..but I DO get through.

I hate that someone can't set Moga up on Vista since it reads and takes dictation as well as Jaws does and has different voices and more you can add for free. I hate that she can't get her guide dog here in Florida...we do have a good center here and she would be closer.

I hate that I don't have time to read the upper forums right now.

I hate that I lost two classes (got dropped) because this lousy misbegotten virus that started out as a cold, changed to bronchitis and nearly made it to whooping cough made me too ill to keep up. I will have to take them this summer...

I hate that Master is flying today even though he is still sick.

I hate that I can't fix every ones problems or give Christine a new job.

I hate that ST hasn't discovered the free web design programs that would make his design stuff easier to do. CMail me and I will give you a couple of sites ST based on your O/s.

I hate that someone made a play for Red's DB and dished her things but proud to hear the Redhead fired her up..Ashes to ashes Ba-BE..Ashes to Ashes.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE (note the 5) my damn sound sensitivity.

Smoke alarm accidently goes off....and I was off running in a nano second to get away from it outside, all the way to the edge of the driveway. *sigh* It leaves me in a quivering mess and not in the good way.

Even some quiet unespected sounds do it, but more startle me but make my heart speed up way.

Im dealing with other triggers so well, but this one is proving impossible.
