Sending warm pink healing love and light to all of you, and extra for anyone else who wanders in and would like some; there's plenty..

I hate it that I am typing this mostly one-handed because I am tending an injured orphan squirrel whose prognosis is questionable to poor. He has been in our care since he was about four weeks old, and has somehow sustained an infection that was gotten from a cat bite - that happened in an attack from another rescue critter after he got here because I turned away to speak to someone and wasn't being careful enough - which means that if he dies, it's My fault.

Status: offline 		awwww, hope the little critter gets better.  it's not really your fault, it's the fault of the critter that bit him.  my mom nursed a newborn squirrel  back to health after she fell out of the nest.  she couldn't go back outside as she was 90% blind, so for a number of years we had a 6 ft tall by 4 ft square cage in the living room.  she had a vet prescribed diet and tree branches to climb on and she adored my mother, loved to sit on mom's shoulder and just cuddle.  just know you've done everything you can to help the little one and without you he probably wouldn't even be here now.

I am sure you know this, but cat bites are nasty because of the bacteria on their teeth.  You may need to lance and clean out the infection.  Also check to see if you can use the purple spray called "Wound Kote" on him. I think that you can since it is not a cat nor a food animal.  You should be able to pick it up at a local farm-supply store such as Orschelins.

You're sweet to say all that, dear, but it was kinda My fault. The cat that grabbed him off My lap was a semi-feral who was only in the house to get something to eat. She was sitting on the floor at My feet, waiting for her shot, and she'd been perving the squirrel cage for hours. None of our other cats had ever tried anything, so I was complacent.
We do wildlife damage control and rehab for our state, so a house full of various wild and domestic creatures is normal. Currently on deck: eight cats, six rats, one female Mallard duck, one baby possum (also female, and an excellent candidate for release. possums are so funny-looking, but she's such a toot), and one very sick little boy squirrel, who was already not a candidate for release because of initial injuries sustained in his fall from his nest when he was a hairless newborn. He's a lovebug, and a fighter, though, and so am I. We love him very much.
If anyone believes in praying for animals, I ask Yyou from My heart to Yyours to do so now. Please and Thank You.

i hate to tell you this...but you are in serious trouble.

I strongly suggest you call a vet and explain the situation..then arm yourself with the vets advice and get your ass to a doctor NOW!!!

I cannot emphasize enough that you need medical care ASAP...wound cleaning and antibiotics.

Holly. . .  I think that she is one-handed not because SHE was bit, but because she is cuddling the squirrel that was bit. 

But, yes, if SHE was bit I would say to go get a rabies shot.
