speaking of strangling kids...i hate that my son went to stay at a family friends house late friday night and i called to see what was up just a bit ago before going to bed and find out he's never been there. he might be 18 and a whole foot taller than i am but he's going to get his ass kicked to the moon and back when i find him. (just hopes he's ok until i get my hands on him.)

hugs poen I wish it were just an adolescent tanrum, but it's part of his bipolar disorder. Once in a while, it gets the better of him, and he loses it big time. We know what it is, but it doesn't always make it any easier to deal with. It's terrible when it happens, and it's especially painful when he comes back, sobbing to me, apologizing, telling me he loves me, and asking why we can't make this stupid illness just go away. Just as I anticipated, he came in from talking with his dad, crying his heart out, telling me something I couldn't understand because he was crying so hard. All I could do was hold him, go to the big reclining chair, hold him in my arms like a little child on my lap, and kiss his head and tell him that I love him and that I was sorry I got mad, too. I love that he wants immediate resolution, like me. I'm also glad that, at 5'5" and 140 pounds, he's still not too "big" to just sit on Mom's lap and curl up and cry it out, knowing that I'm on his side. I'm grateful that he's now sound asleep.

It's just part of life with a special needs kid, although it doesn't make it any easier. hugs Gwyn I'm sorry you're having Thing troubles, too. I hate it that Things don't come with a mute switch or a padded cell when they come unglued. Hell, the padded cell could be for me. adjusts straps on my straight jacket I love it that, when given a choice to stay with his dad and get a ride to school from a neighbor, Thing 1 said he needed to be at home with me, to be sure we were ok.

Thank you, ladies. It can be a real pain at times, but he was given to me for a reason. Maybe another mommy wouldn't understand him the way I do? So, for whatever reason, God let me be the one to have him and raise him. Special thanks to LadyH for calling me a "good mom." You don't know how much that means when I feel like I'm so ill-qualified at times.

Hug him tight sugar and I know it is not going to get any easier...are they able to do anything to help even him out some? Have a friend whose son is also manic with more than a few other problems tossed in, violence is almost a daily occurrence in their home, by him. I know it is not easy and hope that each night as you rest, you know despite all they put you through, they love you as much as you love them. Gwyn if ya need to send the Princeling this way..Auntie Poen will screw his head back on right. poenkitten
