We had in one of the ums schools an anit bullying pact. All the kids had to sign it, and they formed "tribal councils" of their peers. If a bully was caught being nasty they would have to go before the council, and deal with being talked to, and make approriations to the abused. I think a lot less bullying would occur if more schools followed this. They felt empowered against the bullies. He was not bullied there hardly at all. It happened once in the beginning of the year, and the bully was taken down a few pegs. Being a bully there was not cool. They were the shunned ones.

I very much agree with this and sure wish this policy was in place when I was enduring grade school growing up. I really think it's a great idea to have people like us who went suffered school yard bullying to be the ones writing policies for the educational system. My good warm memories of school ended when I started grade5, all the years afterward was pure hell as far as I'm concerned.

I loved school in spite of the other kids, mainly I think because it was better than being home with my mother. It was also a place where I could learn new stuff & I've always had a thirst to know everything that there is to know. I was an oddball, geeky nerd with unruly hair, glasses & a brain. My way of dealing was to read constantly & to sit in the back of the class & do everything I could do to just not get noticed. One time in 5th grade, a boy pulled a prank on me & when they started to laugh, I told them off like I was their mothers. I guess it worked because I didn't get fucked with after that.

I went to 3 different high schools, which meant 3 separate hordes of cliques & kids who had been all through school together. Since I already knew that I didn't fit in, I was ok. I loved nothing better than having long talks in the evenings with my father who was the most brilliant person I have ever met. I could vent to him about the stoopid kids & teachers & ask him to explain their behaviors to me. He was never able to explain it so that I could understand, which probably contributed to my feelings that I'm some sort of alien being, not like them at all.

Glad your school experience was positive, Linea! Fate had other plans for me and wasn't so kind....hahahahaha from kindergarten to high school, I went to 7 different schools! The one parental unit worked for the railroad and got transferred quite alot.

I hate stupid people that don't put their little kids in car seats.

LAst night, in front of the hotel, some guy driving a new Accord smacked into the back end of a Chevy 2500. Not hard enough to deploy airbags, but the front of the car was toast.
I went out to see if everyone was ok, and the chick in the front seat had a toddler in her lap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is purely by the grace of god that nobody was hurt.

Stupid bitch.

I also hate it that I had a horrible time taking my FurSister to her vet appointment. She was fine in the car, but she started tearing up in the waiting area. The scale freaked her out big time. She heard a cat yowling in the back and kinda looked at me like "Why stoopid hooman bring me here? Sounds kinda bad." I just petted her and gave her a treat, hoping shed calm down.

When it was our turn, she tried her damnedest to make a beeline for the door. I had to call her name like...4 times to get her to stop trying to get away. She wouldnt let the Vet Assistant touch her, and kept hiding behind me. Silly me got wrapped in the leash and landed face first on a damn gurney, sending files and papers flying...She finally sniffs the VA and lets her pick her up, but the dog wont let me outta her sight. She wouldnt even let the vet turn her around to check her teeth and nose and ears and stuff.

They were gonna give her the shots, and call it a day, but mom called and wanted her nails clipped. Well, FurSister aint having that. She went ape shit when Doc Lori grabbed her front paw to start. I was asked if we tried to clip them at home. Shes only been to Petsmart to have them clipped, so we assume they have been a little rough with her. She was checked to make sure she didnt have anything stuck in her paws. Anyways, they get to clipping, and the dog is baring teeth, trembling, and just freaking out. She flattened out and was hanging on to the table for dear life. Its odd, but I think she took the shot WAY better than getting her nails clipped.

I just hate it when furbabies are all stressed out, and I cant do anything but pet her head and tell her that im here and I wont let them hurt her...

It was only pleasant in a relative manner, Bear. Like I said, it was better than staying home with her. I was known for my incredible attendance record, coming to school despite illness. I didn't like the other kids & I thought most of the teachers were fools. There were some shining exceptions, such as Mr. Odum who taught me algebra, calculus & trig. Moving didn't help much to make me feel confident or part of the rest of the world. But the second high school I went to was rated nearly the highest academically in the state & I loved that. I could immerse myself in learning.

My point is that we all find our outlets when we're the picked-on ones. Mine was to build an impenetrable wall between me & them & to hide in books. Less physically damaging than cutting, but pretty much the same type of response anyway.

Fortunately, both my girls are good about getting their toes trimmed... it's the teeth cleaning that I cant get them through..and HOLY CROW! I cant BELIEVE how much the vet wants to do it!

And my outlet was to withdraw into myself and then rebel against anything I considered a threat hahahahaha.

I hate it when I try to pick Miles Davis up & he squeeks in pain & then starts howling & wants me to stop touching him. I didn't even touch the owie bits. I just wanted to check them. Someone please reassure me that this is normal behavior the day after a ball-ectomy!!!

Oooooh, Bear!! You were a bad boy! I was the good child to keep from being noticed. My Senior year, I had had it & started doing shit in an attempt to get suspended from school so my parents might notice how unhappy I was. Unfortunately, the Principal was the father of a friend of mine from the previous school so he would just give me a light tap on the wrist & say, "Don't do that anymore" every single time I did "it", whatever the stunt was that I was using that time. Curses, foiled again!!

And I lubs you Bear, both ends.

I hate it when...

some days I just want to crawl back in bed under the covers and stay there forever..
