Am I horrible if I found much *secret* joy in sending out the mass email this afternoon that the company picnic was cancelled due to lack of participation?  (Hmm...  and the owner told me last week that I was crazy when I told him that people were apathetic and that morale was down because the whole place was on eggshells.)

slight raindrop of gloom on your hopes red. technically, she'll have to declare that she's not impartial, that she knows you and thus disqualify herself for being on the board (unless they approve her and keep in mind that you know each other). otherwise, if someone doesn't get the job, finds out about it, they can file a complaint that they didn't have a fair chance.

anyways how could they not hire you? you have knowledge, you have charm, you have good rapport with people of various walks of life, you have perseverance and good cheer in the face of adversity, you have empathy (organising the picnic despite being let go).... these are EXCELLENT and very marketable skills.
