I love it when after an absolutely wretched day yesterday, things are a little bit better today. 
To clarify: Thing 1 had a terrible skateboard accident while I was at work, he wasn't sure of the exact location where he was so I could call 911 and let them know where to find him, and he was hysterical.  I couldn't get him to give the cell phone to his friend so I could get him to find a house or a street sign, and I was helpless... 10 miles away at work.  So, I got 911 on the phone, asked him a bunch of questions and eventually (10 minutes later) got the rescue squad there to treat him.  All this while I have him on my cell, and 911 on my work phone.  My co-worker told me today that she couldn't believe how calm, but stern I was.  I don't know, I think a different level of coping skill kicks in, esp. when you know that you are the link to getting your kid help. 

When he got to the hospital, I met them there.  He was so bloody, I felt faint.  It didn't help that I had been fighting off a tummy bug.  When they showed me all the places he needed stitches and where his jawbone was sticking out, I puked.  I continued to puke for 4 hours till we were released.  My poor guy is covered in road rash, has a chipped front tooth, and stitches in his chin and mouth.  God bless him. 

Today, I'm not puking and he is stiff, but I'm grateful that the CT scans were clear because things could've been so much worse. 

(Although you will never see or read this, I love you, Thing 1, you made Mommy's heart stop yesterday when I didn't know where you were or how to get you help right away.)


Bless your souls!!!  My goodness, how you didn't end up in a small puddle on the floor is a complete miracle.  My thoughts and prayers to you beautiful Red and thing1(i love that, i'm totally stealing it for my nephew!).  You are a wonderfully strong woman.  Thank you for sharing with us.  :)

Thank you, juliannadelion.  I tell you what, when we got home, I was so "done" that I ended up sleeping from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m.  Thirteen hours of quasi-knocked out slumber.  *sigh*    Thing 1 was out cold, too.

i love the fact that it's not HIS house that's on fire though i do feel bad that it's one down the block from His and hope everyone is okay.

i love that the friday work week is over.

i also love the fact that the workmate/friend who boasted that her oncall week was so quiet she'd only had 1 call all week, i just left her with 2.5 pages of fillins she's going to need to find - 1 page per day, and some for monday morning. i got the call just on 5, and couldn't stay much longer to do anything. it's vy funny - for me at least....

I love it when...it rains...a drizzly sort of rain, not a downpour...just enough to dampen the earth and make me feel grateful for the shelter I'm in.

I love it that MY CAR ISNT TOTALLED!!!!!!!!!

estimated 5 days to repair.. which means not only do I have to come up with the deductible ($500.00), but also the $ to rent a car..*sigh*

BUT!!

i love that i'm done with my stint at the social security office today.  that place is kind of a joke if you ask me.  i had to get a replacement card and they said i needed a name change because on their computer i still had my married name.  well, i changed it years ago after my divorce and got a new card...it is how i've gotten jobs, licenses etc for the last 9 years.  i even had an envelope in my purse with my current name on it that they had mailed me a few months ago, but NOOOO....i had to go down to the court house that's clear across town, get a certified copy of my divorce decree and bring it back. 

how on earth have i been using a card with one name on it while they have the same number with a different name in their records?  no wonder illegals have such an easy time stealing SSI numbers. that place doesn't seem to have a grip on how to run things efficiently. sorry. but seriously. they're open later than everyone else too. so now i can get my exercise walking the mile up there and back, get my coffee, and still not have spent the same as i would have for groceries this week like i would have at starbucks.

though why we need the campus run coffee bar i work at, starbucks, and now two tim hortons all on the same campus still escapes me.
