We have a pair of steel police cuffs. The mechanism on one side was a bit dodgy and hard to get to release. The problem is that there are 3 tumblers, and for some reason only two of them turn. For some bizarre reason my boyfriend has put them on and now one hand is stuck. Lock won't budge. We've tried to cut them with a hack saw, prise the top of them apart and break the pin, jam a screwdriver in over the tumblers to shove them down. And so far all we've done is made them tighter.

Any suggestions? He is not keen on the idea of outside help... thankfully he's fully dressed though.

if you have a grinder you could try that then to a certain point use the hacksaw so you don't cut him with the grinder. and my hubby says be very very careful.

Ok, sorry.

I'd say go to Home Depot and ask to borrow a pair of bolt cutters... but it's kind of late. We had that happen once when I was a cashier at Home Depot. >.> Hehe.

*Edit* I'm not sure if they were "Police Grade" though

Hacksaw is now blunt... hand is starting to really hurt... he's still insisting we don't just go to the hospital.

Kick him in the ass and tell him to get over it lol. If his hand is hurting really bad that isn't good and if you have no other way to get it off it would be less humilating to go to the hospital now than wait til he permantely damages his hand. It needs to come off one way or the other as far as I see it you have tried everything. I guess you could go to a wal mart and buy some bolt cutters if he is going to be really stubborn about it.

Yup. The hardware store opens in an hour, so if he's still stuck I'll be down there. Argh.

As someone who had a friend who suffered irreversible nerve damage from this EXACT SAME STUNT (and, his hand wasn't even hurting at all) - he waited until he could get into work and get it cut there.

You need to give him an ultimatum.

He loads up in the car now and goes to the ER.  They fix the issue.  Since they are medical professionals - your privacy is mostly assured.

Or, you dial 911 - which will bring an Ambulance, a Fire-Medical response, and Police response once the medical people mention 'handcuffs' being involved.  This would alert ALL of your neighbors to SOMETHING going on.  And, your privacy is BLOWN.

Otherwise - hope he doesn't enjoy working, or fondling you with that hand.  Once the nerves are damaged, it's game-over.

Bloody IDIOT. It went purple, but I managed to cut most the way through then whacked them with a hammer til the last bit broke. He's now got some nice marks and what are going to be bruises around the wrist and a small cut from him trying to get them open himself with a screw driver.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I think we'll stick to tape and rope from here on in.

What would a hospital have to take it off?  Call a locksmith!!!!!!!!!!!  They're 24-hours ;)

And we weren't even playing! He just got them out and put them on - knowing that they stick and that we weren't going to use them any more!

He never even wears them... they're for me.

Stupid, stupid man.

I would have gone to a fire department or called a locksmith. ER wouldn't be good.

i worked in an ER in an inner city hospital (could write a book on THAT experience) and you would be suprised that the ER can be very helpful. The fire dept is really rather used to responding to hospitals for reasons such as this. Also, the FD/EMT's prefer it sometimes, as they are using (at times) a large machine on a very small body part.

ER will cost $$. They will probably end up calling the FD to take it off anyway. Going to the FD directly will be free, probably, and will get a good chuckle from them.

*I* would have gone to the nearest Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme, found a sympathetic officer, and asked for help.

Bolt cutters............  other wise........ you may need to go to the fire station and have them cut it off.

Ill just say I KNOW this from experience...................  Just glad I wasnt the one wearing them!!!

LONG story....................  but if they are the REAL deal.........  those are the only ways.............
