This isn't a BDSM question, but figured you guys would be the least judgmental and the most helpful. I do not have health insurance and so cannot ask the doctor. Recently my husband vigorously used a dildo on me, nothing extreme in size, just average. Done this in the past with no problem. Although this time was a bit more "active" than usual. We fell asleep. I woke up about 2 hrs later, had to go to the bathroom. At the bathroom door I started feeling very strange. Nauseous, light-headed. Fairly intense pain in my lower abdomen (below belly button). Every symptom got a lot worse fast. Kind of out of my head. Sitting on the john peeing, couldn't decide whether to keep peeing or switch ends and get sick.  I think I stood up, but not sure. Woke up sitting on the bathroom floor with my head against the cabinet doors (very small bathroom). Went into bedroom, still very nauseous and dizzy. I can't remember actually laying on the bed. He says I called to him and woke him up. After laying down for a short while, I felt better, although still had abdomen pain. In the morning it was like nothing had happened. Felt fine. Now he's terrified about using the dildo on me again. And it's my favorite toy! Anyone with doctor/nurse/first aid experience care to advise me at all?

Could it have just been an poorly timed case of the flu?  Symptoms sound right.  If nothing further comes of it, I don't think I would worry that much.  Just be sure you are keeping your toys clean to prevent illness in the first place.  There are special cleansers on the market for just that purpose.  I do believe the dildo itself to be an innocent party here.

Best wishes,

Was it one of those 'gel' type toys or at least not the hard plastic we're all used to?
I've read about people having reactions to the new materials used.

I didn't think about that....I guess it could have been an allergic reaction, though the symptoms don't sound right to my knowledge.  Still, if it has been used successfully in the past, I doubt it is the material.  If it was a new toy, perhaps it may be our culprit in which case switching to a different material should suffice.  Doctor I am not, but I am familar with different types of allergies.  Again good luck.

I've been reading that some toys have ... (I'm not sure of the right wording) stuff in them that makes them actually hazardous to humans. I guess I should learn more about this, because I doubt this will be the only time this comes up here.

If the toy was a gel or latex, I'd strongly suspect a sudden reaction to the toy. Though I'm not in the medical field but I do know of people developing an allergy to latex when they hadn't had on in the past. Another possibility is maybe having eaten something which didn't agree with you? It takes approx 3-4 hours to digest our most recent meal so that could be suspect also. Wonder if you thought back and try to narrow down what you believe could have caused your symptoms.

Id like to point out that while I do work closely with the medical field I am not a doctor, most of this is based on my own experience or reading of others...

It could have been the material the toy is made out of... typically however it would have been a localized reaction (something similar to a yeast infection, reddness, swelling, discharge etc...) but as someone else pointed out, if it had been used previously without any issues thats probably not the case...

Sometimes (and its actually happened to me short girl=short vagina hah) when the dildo or even a longer penis hits the cervix with enough force over and over again it will cause pain and cramping in the lower abdomen similar to menstrual cramps... this can occasionally be accompanied by nausea/vomiting/dizzieness... best thing to do is just take a nap and next time take it alittle easier...

My first thought was air bubble or gas bubble.  Vigorous thrusting could have pushed more air than normal inside, and sometimes that can be experienced as you described.

Just like the toys we hear about on the news, you might want to watch out for that "Made in China" logo.

I would probably also recommend if you started noticing cramping  occuring more frequently after intercourse toy play and are over 35 and experiencing possibly experiencing heavier bleeding during your periods or they are lasting longer   talk to your doctor  about having an ultrasound to check for uterine fibroid tumors

It may be what those in the medical profession refer to ( a li'l tongue in cheek) as "honeymoon cystitis". It can, and often does, occur with no toys involved. Usually very vigorous thrusting by a well endowed man in the doggy style position ( great penetration). Sometimes as a result of the cock repeatedly banging on the uterine opening, some trauma to the tissue may occur. If, as it did for you,the pain goes away in a few hours, no problem. But, sometimes enough trama is done to the tissue that inflammation can occur and then you need to seek competent medical attention. Yea, it can be embarrassing, but not so much as , say walking into the ER and asking them to exract ( very carefully) the lightbulb up your ass. "How'd THAT get there ?

Thank you all for help and concern. I think several people hit it on the head (no pun intended). The toy is an older one, had it for years, made of latex. I do have some fairly severe allergies (chronic hives, swelling, etc), but never to latex. I think it was a combination of my cervix taking a severe beating with air possibly being forced up in me. It scared my husband good so I'll probably never be treated to my favorite toy again. But it felt so good!!

Oh, but why would he deprive you of it now?  According to your own opinion and some amount of logic, the toy itself was innocent.  Perhaps let him read this thread in its entirety and hopefully it will put his mind at ease and you will have your favorite diversion available again soon.  Best wishes.

Extra super duper vanilla husband.  It's hard enough to get him to "play" a little, not to mention after I get "hurt". I'll do my best to convince him.

only way to find out is to try the toy again- gently- if it is the latex you will still have a reaction- if it was the thrusting to hard then doing it softly shouldn't produce any bad reactons. see- all better, now on to whirled peas and the meaning of wife.

Could it have nothing to do with the toy, and maybe something you ate that night?

Sounds like a sudden drop in blood pressure. I have had that happen to me when I had a bout of violent diarrhoea. I went to the toilet feeling sick and dizzy, and passed out on the floor when I stood up to go back to bed.

Lying down, the OP felt better probably because her blood pressure went up again. I suspect a bout of food poisoning/upset tummy rather than the toy, but then I am not a doctor so YMMV.
