What about a collar that was leather, and used stitching in place of rivets. They certainly make plastic D rings and plastic buckles. You could likely get a very nicely designed collar. I'll use Mr.S as an example. http://www.mr-s-leather.com/SL001.html Typical collar, metal D rings, metal rivets, metal buckle. You of course have the wider band of leather, and then you have the thin band of leather, that holds the D rings, and locking post/buckle. The thins trip of leather, could be sewn to the wide strip, instead of rivets. You could still have strong, durable D rings, just substitute them for plastic D rings, and you can sew the thin strip down, to anchor the rings well enough. I am not sure if they made plastic locking buckles, but you could almost certainly get a plastic post and drill a hole through it and find another means of securing the collar if you really needed to secure it. Or simply use a normal plastic buckle. Just some thoughts from a newbie.
