Not necessarily medical I suppose but in both of the clubs I play in reguarly I can't tell you how many times I have needed a flashlight. It tends to be dark in dungeons and it occurs to me that if you have a medical emergency a flashlight may be handy.

This thread bears my seal of approval.

Bookmarked for future reference; then emailed it to myself, just to make sure.

The only thing I would add would be a chemical cold pack, squeeze it and it becomes cold. Good if someone gets a bump on the head. And maybe those Fisherman's heat packs to put in pockets or shoes, you expose them to air and they get warm and stay warm in an enclosed place for several hours.

gothicbisub -> RE: BDSM EMT kit? (4/22/2008 5:32:44 AM)

As someone who has spent a great deal of time treating people at night and dark places, a flashlight can be just as helpful as just about everything else mentioned. Real good point.

Vigilantejustice -> RE: BDSM EMT kit? (4/23/2008 9:38:35 AM)

I will say that as a trained EMT and the sub of an Army Combat Medic that pretty much all the advice/recommendations are great. However, throw some bottled water (Propel is better because it has electrolytes) in your bag, because things like electrical and mummification play can cause dehydration. Don't forget some straws! Also, those sticks of flavored honey you can get at Renn Faires taste way better than oral glucose.

A small warning for those who want to use to Quick Clot:

That stuff gets super hot. It's an exothermic reaction. Be mindful, we don't want to have to treat burns too! javascript:void(opener.AddText('[sm\=flameout.gif]')); self.focus();

Just my 2p,
Corinne

Not read all the posts because reading lists about sticking plaster and scissors seems silly. So someone else will probably have said - an intelligent thought-through plan of how to do what you want to do and a good working knowledge of basic physics. Without that set of tools available, don't start.

When we go to partys we take two bags one is full of our toys and the other is our safety/aftercare stuff.

In the safety bag we have

Flashlight
First Aid kit in its own bright pink bag so its easy to find even in low light. Has all the usual first aid stuff in it and was bought from St Johns ambulance (the company who runs first aid courses here)
Instant ice packs
Blood clotting spray
Boltcutters (I love chains but sometimes those little keys do run away)
EMT shears X2
Small sharps container
cleaning wipes
gloves
2 X 600ml bottles of spring water
a small packet of jellybeans
Small soft throw rug
Arnica cream (useful to reduce bruises...if Master doesn't want to leave bruises on me)
Panadol (heacache tablets)
Buscapan (Relieves spasms in the intestines and stomach so can reduce heatburn or other related types pains. The partys we go too always serve dinner and I have a delicate digestion so some nights these become a must)
Rescue remedy (Great to help with subdrop or if any newbies are having panic attacks)

It is silly to read what others have said on a topic that you feel complelled to post? I don't recall anybody mentioning what you gave as advice. Maybe that is because we couldn't figure out how to get an "intelligent -thought-through plan" in our BDSM EMT kit. Do you share your thoughts on this with your prospective play partners? No....I mean the real-life ones.

Funny funny to the above.
There's a replacement for a shower head that is shaped like a dildo with shower types holes in it. A quick blast of warm water up the anal canal can be useful for cleaning after and after anal play.
As well as my stuff mentioned earlier I also take Anusol and/or Anusol HC. (American names of branded products will be different). Although Anusol HC is a htdro cotisone which thins skin with prolonged use it does heal anal bruising very qiickly.
Massage based oil and patchouli essential oil also for giving Indian gead massage....(yes head, neck and shoulders). I also take melatonin if I am staying over as sometimes (mostlty) my sleep pattern is altered after play and I don't 'come down' enough to sleep.
Yes this is a great thread and quite possible to put the definitive kit together.
However: I don't drive.....well I won't if it can be avoided (carbon foorprint). UK is a relarively small place and I definitely don't/won'r drive in London. Train and tube is my prefferred way. I therefore use a gym kit bag for my stuff as these are spatious. My high heels fit in the shoe compartment. I can also get two crops in there as they are flexible. My canes stick out though and have raised a few eyebrow. They aren't the sort of canes that can be disguised as walking sticks though. I also take stoxkings...two or three pairs although some like them torn and snagged.
But an emergency kit is clothing optional I suppose. [:D]

Well that excludes me from the bdsm scene then. My only basic working knowledge of physics as a slave is how to assume the position as it were. How to hang around might also prove useful I suppose. BUT my body is my full set of tools.

Additonal warning about Quick Clot:  It can cause allergic reaction and possible anaphylactic shock in those with shellfish allergies.

SteelofUtah -> RE: BDSM EMT kit? (4/25/2008 1:40:37 PM)

If Quick Clot is what I think it is which is just a liquid that seals a puncture wound and forces blood clotting and can also be found in a Crayon Style Pen for guys who cut themself shaving, is this what you are talking about?. If it is and if you are using it for SMALL wounds you might as well use Super Glue. It's what I use and most Doctors are familiar with the practice JUST LET THEM KNOW YOU DID THAT. It will help when they try to look at the wound.

Some will ask Why did that and not just cover the wound and bring them in. I always answer cause half my family was in Viet Nam and they stop asking questions.

Vigilantejustice -> RE: BDSM EMT kit? (4/25/2008 1:59:18 PM)

This is the Quick Clot I'm talking about:

http://www.z-medica.com/quikclot/index.asp

Designed for military use. Daddy's gone through it by the pound in Afghanistan in the last year.

SteelofUtah -> RE: BDSM EMT kit? (4/25/2008 2:21:40 PM)

If there were missing chunks I would use this however I am used to Slits and Slices when cuts are incured, So I use regular Super Glue. However it should be said that the kind of wound they show, it would not be good to use Super Glue.
