Just wondering if the terminology maybe different for some of the play oriented folk as opposed to the lifestylers as some discussions lately have had some play oriented folks I know seeming to be holding sub 'drop' as a goal, so I thought I'd ask a wider audience.

For Me, whilst playing if My girl starts to fly, she is off in sub 'space', its a good feeling, one that can be looked forward to.

sub 'drop' on the other had is the comeback, the down side that makes her feel crappy afterwards, often the day after she has been spacing.

So I find it rather confusing when Tops are making 'drop' sound like a goal to be aimed for rather than a consequence that the girl will need a bit of care to get over.

I tend to agree with you on both direction and definitions. Most I know would feel the same.
To have sub-drop as a goal seems counterproductive in the long term

I'm with you there, actually a little shocked, as I have never heard anyone point to drop as a goal. Not saying it hasn't happend just that I've not encountered it.

My (former) mentor used to refer to 'sub-drop' as the letdown after intense play, but would then talk about wanting to get the sub to 'drop' into 'sub-space'.  I found this very confusing until I figured out exactly what he meant.
 
For Me, 'sub-drop' is post-play depression, and it can take place within hours or days (sometimes more than a week) after a session.  'Sub-space' is the feeling of euphoria brought on by the endorphin rush caused by instense sensation, and/or the arousal caused by the erotic nature of BDSM play in general.
 
I don't use the word 'drop' in association with 'sub-space'--as in, "I was able to get the boi to 'drop' in only a few minutes just by locking the collar around his neck", 'cause it's just too damned confusing.

If you can tell what they meant, I'd just assume the right answer.

And sometimes you don't realize your mistake till it's past the edit period. Personally I hate not being able to fix an error some hours later when I get back to a post.

I have never heard to subdrop as anything but the negative aftereffects of being removed from the play arena for too long, or being separated from a new partner and feeling the effects
Subspace has always been used for that goal place during playtime.

If they're saying what a great scene, she was in drop and flying, then you can tell what they meant. If you really can't tell, then why not ask them to clarify?

If you don't like reading posts that are not word perfect, then put such posters on hide so as not to have to deal with the 30 seconds of confusion in the future. Some people proof read, others don't. And as I said, often when people realize their mistakes it's too late to correct it.

mmmmmmm the way you describe play... sounds like a typical Service Top prespective... I suppose that would be something people that play BDSM do.

I agree.... frankly... I think it's more to the point that someone needs to group people that play Bdsm different than those apparent lifestylers that do BDSM....   Smells of alot of insecurity rather than any truth.

Terms aside, there are two things I know.

1) Pushing someone until they fail is not a healthy way to grow.  Push to the limit, fine, but the idea of having so much of a good time one gets mentally disturbed isn't so bright.

2) People have different definitions.

c) The difference of subspace and not is startling.  I never expected it to be so palpable.

PS:  This all reminds me of apost I read long ago.

It was about some dominant male using the promise of getting prospective submissives to need their safewords as a selling point.

Take your head out of your ass and realise not every conversation is online. Nor does every comment in the real world leave chance for clarification if its just a few words in passing.

KoM I don't much care what you play at nor what you service. I was simply looking for a possible other meaning than one I would view negativly (And found it when a poster mentioned maybe refering to 'drop into subspace') not your standard anal retentive PC BS!
