Corvidae -> Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 2:43:54 PM)

Hi! I know this topic has been brought up before, but I still have a few questions and would really appreciate any responses. I guess I'm just trying to get a general survey of how people who have pierced nipples feel about them.
For anyone who has had their nipples pierced...
1. Are you glad you got it?
2. How long did it take to heal?
3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?
4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?
6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?
7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)

Many thanks!

abcbsex -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 3:31:59 PM)

i've actually just decided to retire my set of nipple piercings due to their inability to heal. I do highly recommend them though, they were my favorite body mod!

1. Are you glad you got it?  yes yes and yes. I used to be insecure about my breasts and nipple piercings transformed my attitude, hence the reason why it was so emotional of a decision to take them out.

2. How long did it take to heal? two weeks for the initial healing, though one of them was constantly irritated and kept worrying me the year and a half I had them

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?  I actually just recently took out the jewelry, not because of any serious complication, but it was preventing me from really enjoying my nipples, having to be so careful about snagging them, and one would constantly act up and get red bumps if it was even lightly tapped.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?  yes absolutely. be smart though, get quality jewelry.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?  I'd say that nipple clamps actually hurt worse than the piercing process so about a 5 or 6.  I was really sore for about a week(couldn't even wear a bra) and after two weeks I could have them touched

6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?  talk to your piercer before you go at it just to know what to expect from them, make sure you trust them. With the actual piercing, don't overclean, but also don't neglect. I found the easiest way to keep everything clean was to just rinse them off gently in the shower. make sure to tell anyone you play with to LEAVE THEM THE FUCK ALONE! sorry for the caps but seriously, no impact play or  clamps or anything of the sort, even if you think they're all the way healed. I've been there, done that and it led me to the decision to get rid of them.

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)  Barbell! I've only heard bad things about rings, that they're harder to heal, etc. I'm pretty sure the irritation I had didn't come from the jewelry, I just don't think my nipples liked a bit of metal through them. Also, as mentioned above, I let some impact play happen on them that made one in particular really touchy, it ended up not being worth the trouble to keep them.

That all said, Good Luck! They're very attractive piercings! Love the hell out of them!
here's a link to my lj entry about my decision to retire them- http://remcyclerewind.livejournal.com/9781.html
the second to last paragraph:

quote:

Last night I was extremely emotional over my nipple piercings. Sounds kind of silly but I was honestly upset over them. See, it was a complete accident that set it off, though I've been pondering taking them out since we started down this path. I hit a door. Yes, I am as dorky as that sounds but I was braless and my barbell caught the edge of our bedroom door and I was literally doubled over from the pain in my nipple. Alpha told me I should take them out because they haven't healed in over a year and I started getting angry. I couldn't understand why I was so angry though, it seemed so shallow to be so angry about a concerned suggestion. We talked about it and realized that it all came back to insecurity. I've always been insecure about my breast size and my nipples, and the nipple rings made them special to me, but why have irritated piercings just so I can fake confidence about my boobs? I was inspecting the hurt nipple when it started to bleed, and I got the same feeling that I did when Cam had Alpha hit it with a belt, some sort of disturbance I don't like. I decided right then to take them both out (I have a thing for symmetry), and they've already closed to the point I wouldn't even think of putting them back in.

edited (again) to say: these are really good questions to be asking, btw. I hope others help with some insight as well.

p.s. This is my first post to show up with "kinky" under my sn! yay!

ResidentSadist -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 3:44:17 PM)

I’m not pierced but have done it or had it done to my slaves a lot.

1. Are you glad you got it?
*They were all thrilled with the piercing and even those with complications struggled to retain it against medical advice.

2. How long did it take to heal?
*Because it is technically a deep tissue wound, the piercing heals from the outside in.  It can take as long as a year for the center to heal completely but 3 - 6 months is the expected average.  I have seen quick healers appear to be fully mend in 8 weeks.

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?
*Yes, a friend had an allergy to the metal and it caused slow healing.  With an open wound for over a year, infection finally set it and it spread to the glandular system requiring intense antibiotic therapy and eventually the removal of the piercings.  She is healing now and plans to get pierced again, part of her problem was she wanted the piercing so bad, she keep them against medical advice at first and the infection got a foothold.

*Yes, a slave of mine still doesn’t have pierced nipples to this day and we tried twice.  We started with 10 gauge but she wouldn’t heal quickly and the rings migrated.  We removed them.  We pierced her again through the toughened scar tissue with 12 gauge thinking the tough tissue and lighter gauge would help.  It didn’t and we had to remove them.  The funny thing is that to this day she still has the 11 genital piercings and belly button piercings we had done and never had bit of trouble with them.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?
*Yes, it’s hot!!!  Even when you are fully dressed your lover will be aware that you have sexy rings in your nips under your clothes.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?
*Varies person to person… a masochist slave was getting 17 piercings and she outlived the piercing tech who had to take a break to eat and drink something to get their strength back up.

6. Any tips or tricks you would recommend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?

***Go to a pro.

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)
*Continuous rings… they are like CBR but it’s a matching size shaft that fits in place where the ball would normally go.  If you rotate the ring so the hairline seam is inside the nipple, even on close inspection, it looks like the rings are continuous and not removable.

RumpusParable -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 4:08:39 PM)

Replying as a piercer and as someone with their nipples pierced:

1. Are you glad you got it?

Yep, love them!

2. How long did it take to heal?

About 14 months or so.  As has already been mentioned, the rare person can have them heal in 8 weeks but it is not considered abnormal for them to take up to a year and a half in some cases.  Once healed through entirely, maturation of the fistula takes an additional 6-18 months, generally speaking.

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?

My left had no issue.  My right began migrating at about 1.5 years or so and had to be removed and redone.  That time it did not migrate and was healing fine, but had to be redone a third time recently due to closing during a medical procedure where I had to have my jewelry removed.  I am still in the end days of it healing this last time, but there have been no issue with it and no signs of migration this or last time.

Most of those who I've done or those I've known or seen done had little to no problems beyond the normal healing discomforts.  As with any wound, it largely comes down to after-care.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?

Surely, so long as they had enough tissue to pierce (I've run into a couple males who didn't) and no other considerations coming into play.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?

First time, a 9 or so. Very quick, but Very intense during the piercing.  The strong ache afterwards lasted about a day or so.  After that, they were fine except when they got squished or thwacked into something (I've large breasts, so this was common).

Second piercing on the right, about a 3 or 4.  Ache last about half a day and the tenderness lasted about 8 months.

Third time, about an 8 or so.  Ache about half a day, tenderness for about 3 months or so except during the rare flare up that lasts a few hours to a week or so.  I'm still healing, as I said.

These are all within the normal pattern for nipples.  Some feel no pain, some hit 10.  I had one girl on the table who had to look down to believe the needle had gone through when I said... others go through a lot... lots in between.  But, it quick and done a few moments later.

6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?

Have cold packs prepped in the freezer for later that evening or the next morning when the ache, if you get it, starts.  It can take the edge off and helps reduce the swelling.

Follow your after-care instructions to the letter.  Non-iodized sea salt soaks, if not medical soap then at least the gentlest scent and moisturizer free soap you can find, never touch it except with pre-washed hands when you go to clean it.

Some express most comfort going braless, I found wearing a comfortably snug sports bra was best for me as it kept them from being grazed by my shirt, snagged on anything, etc. and the light pressure helped with the tenderness.

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)

Barbell and and is all I use for nipples.  Less movement, less to get caught on, less pressure on the wound, same allowance for drainage.

daddysblondie -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 4:09:02 PM)

I got my nipples pierced about a year and a half ago and took the jewelry out at about 10 months because as much as I enjoyed the way they looked, I came to the conclusion that I was missing out on more than I was gaining by having them in.
With that said, the pain for me was much more the pressure of pushing the needle and the jewelry through the nipple itself. My nipples are fairly large (pencil eraser type) and damn sensitive so I'm willing to attribute it to that more than anything.
What I found to be the downside of having my nipples pierced was that I LOVE nipple play/torture. I was never able to have nipple clamps on after they were pierced and even 10 months out, if one got pinched a little too hard, they were bleeding and sore and I finally got frustrated because I felt like I was missing out on really good fun because of them.
I also must say, it's nice not having to worry about my nipples poking through everything I wear...

^ what she said.  Barbell best for healing period.  Continuous loop was perma jewelry later.  Sorry for any confusion, my mind wanders when I think of pierced nips because it is soooooooo hot.

this is mostly why I'm not regretting my decision to remove mine either, though I did like my nipples poking through almost everything I wear.

If I had been single the entire time with no play or anything during the years it takes for them to heal properly, I probably would have been fine. but my nipples are almost as important to me as my clit when it comes to sex, and even little tugs on them would make the piercings angry.

batshalom -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 5:42:43 PM)

1. Are you glad you got it?

I loved it.

2. How long did it take to heal?

Entirely? Six to eight months. To the point they weren't seeping, just a week or two - I forget exactly.

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?

No. The only "complication" was having to hold my seatbelt away from my body for about four months to keep it from rubbing.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?

Oh heck yeah.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?

It wasn't even a minor irritation to get them pierced. It was fast and felt like ... um ... hm. It wasn't painful. It didn't feel like nothing but it didn't make me cry or wince. The worst part was thinking about having it done beforehand.

6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?

Just do it.

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)

Barbells. I have gigantic tits and the girl said that unless it was for play (and therefor only in for a short period of time) I should stick with barbells because in busty girls the rings have a tendency to migrate. Eek!

I took my piercings out a couple of months ago. I kept running into door frames and quite frankly it burned. Besides, I don't have a Dom in my life currently and they just seemed kinda useless, even though I got the piercings done for myself and not at the request of anyone. I would have no problem doing it again. It's really no big deal.

1. Are you glad you got it?  The piercing was done for him and it made him happy.  I would not have done it myself.

2. How long did it take to heal?  Six months and then only after we changed the jewelry on the right side.   The left side took about 3 months to heal.

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?  The right side wouldn't heal.  There was a bit of drainage from the piercing but it didn't appear to be infected as in no redness and wasn't sore.  Had the piercer change the jewelry in the right side and within 2 days the little bit of drainage was gone and it appeared healed.  The jewelry was left in...just swapped.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?  I would never go so far as to recommend it to someone.  It's their choice.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore? 9  Was very sore for 2 weeks....then gradually less sore over time.

6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?  nope

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)  Had a barbell originally as my research showed it would heal better than anything curved.

MadameXTC -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 10:55:32 PM)

For anyone who has had their nipples pierced...
1. Are you glad you got it? Yes when I had it done.. I started regretting it when it became too painfull to bear. It hurt like hell and I was miserable for weeks, so bad I had to remove them to keep from something serious happening.

2. How long did it take to heal? both of them oozed and crusted and all sorts of nasty stuff. I was good for about a week and it was downhill from there!

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal?  OMG YES! I am pretty sure they became infected cause they were red and sore and ached so horribly bad. The jewlery started to push itself out and I could barely wear a shirt, couldnt wear a bra if I wanted to.. I was deathly scared to ever get a piercing again because of that! I tried so much to keep them but had to remove them for sanity purposes. I can handle alot of pain, but infectious related pain is miserable!
4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done? of course they are wonderfull if your body can handle it and will heal, mine didn't
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore?  It did NOT hurt getting them pierced at all. It stung a little when I had the second one done but the first one was nothing. It was 5 or 6 seconds of light pain and then it was over.. Now the pain I felt about week 3 was a 10 plus!
6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced?  YES see someone who is good and I mean good. A clean streile environment, buy some wound wash by blairex (( that stuff works wonders)) Do not touch the piercing with your hands etc without washing with soap and water first. Do salt water soaks and if all else fails seek medical help when infection looks like it is setting in.
7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)  ring, and to this day I wonder if  a Barbell would have been a wiser choice

*** on a diff note I just recently got a vertical clit hood piercing done and I am extreamly happy with it*** I am at week 3 and it is healing alot better then the nipple rings. It was more painfull to have it done, but very much more satisfying of a healing process.. It took me 3 years after the bad piercing experience to go in for another, but I do not regret it at all, and the wound wash works miracles on healing time. keep the piercing area as clean as possible and life is good***

Lynnxz -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 11:04:52 PM)

1. Are you glad you got it?  Yes, they are cute as crap

2. How long did it take to heal?  two weeks for the soreness to go away, although
people keep MESSING with them... grrrr...

3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal? Yes, people poking them. One has migrated to where it is exactly vertical, and the other one is perfectly horozontal. I thought it was interesting, and left it.

4. Would you reccomend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done?  Yes.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore? Eh,  it was about a three getting them pierced. I DID get pulled over right after for not wearing my seatbelt... it was rubbing them and pissing me off. I just told the officer what I had gotten pierced, and he got all flustered and left.

6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced? Wear a soft cotton bra that you don't mind getting blood on when you go to get them pierced.

7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?)  Ring- should have gotten a bar, would have really liked a D-ring, but they didn't have them.

Corvidae -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 11:20:32 PM)

Thanks everyone for your responses! They were a big help! I've decided I'm probably going to get them done, but I'm going to wait a few months until I head off to college again because odds are I won't be doing much play then, so I can give my nipples a chance to rest post-piercing.

adoracat -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/27/2008 11:54:54 PM)

i got mine re-done in march.  the left one started migrating within 2 weeks, and i had to remove the piercing.  the right one is healing just fine, but i'm going to have to have it re-done because its crooked (deep on one side, halfway through the nipple on the other).

YES go with the damned barbells!!!  Daddy wanted the rings, i got the rings.  the one remaining looks cute, but every time i get cold, the ring sticks straight out instead of lying flat.  irritation.

TheEngineer wants me to have gold jewelry, and i will eventually.  finding it, though, is a beyotch.  [:D]

all in all, definitely something i am happy about...and TheEngineer was happy about the amount of pleasure i got through the pain of the piercing...the right side went through the scar tissue and it was NOT an easy thing.  this was one time that being a bit of a pain slut was a definite good thing.   i said as much, and the piercer laughed, he said that he'd noticed the bruising i was sporting but didnt want to assume!

frazzle121 -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/30/2008 1:19:43 PM)

Had mine done 3 weeks ago. Removed them 3 days ago.
Right one was healing fine, pain gone, but started me lactating. Left one just hurt like hell.
Plan is to re-try in 6 months.

hopelessfool -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (4/30/2008 10:35:24 PM)

I got mine done Yesterday...
The pain was like when a tattoo needle goes over a nerve.
As for recommending: If you have very sensitive nipples I would say no, the risk is to high that if the person does them wrong, you lose all feeling. If they arnt that senstive I would say go for it.
As for what helped me, if you have the choice of peircer, find one you find attractive. You tend to put on a brave face when trying to impress them with how much pain you can take. Dont drink or take any type of advil before hand. If you want something to dull the pain do tynonal, theres a chemical in advil and aleve that makes you bleed more. Take friends with you and have them talk to you while your getting it done. Takes the mind off the shock. Most of the pain is really short lived -via the actual peircing- just think of the WORST pain you have ever felt, and it tricks the mind in to thinking it will be that bad and then wont be. Just remember the second will hurt worst then the first.

As for everything else, I dont know yet but will keep Ya updated ^_^

my personal experience is that sensitivity didnt change any.  i can still climax just from nipple stimulation alone.  i know, TMI.

hopelessfool -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/1/2008 5:09:53 AM)

Well from what Ive heard of the risks if a peircer goes through at just the wrong angle it kills like all sensitivitiy of the nipple. Its one of the reasons I waited so long to get them done because I had to find the a peircer in the area that hadnt lost all his brain cells due to drugs. I only make the comment for the reason of if you have a good thing going, ive learned its smart to just let it be there are hundreds of ways to get the look of peirced nipples with out the risk...

abcbsex -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/1/2008 8:54:20 AM)

and on a further note about sensitivity....

If you don't really have sensitive nipples, there's a chance nipple piercings will make them more sensitive. I think why it happened with me is because I was SO careful about brushing them against anything, having them touched, etc. that once I allowed it (almost a year and a half later) they made sure I knew what I had been missing!
