Hmmmmm...maybe!

Hey, good luck with nursing school, I'm sure they'll let you finish, since hospitals everywhere are crying for nurses because of the shortage of them.  It would be foolish for them to turn you away when you're willing and able and so near to finishing.  I'm rooting for you!

Thank you!!!  I truly appreciate it

Good luck..  From what I've read and seen in the past few years, GOOD nurses are starting to be in short supply.

Hey, good luck in nursing school!  My father graduated from his nursing school at 52 years old with a 3.5 grade point average, which was not bad for someone who had not been to college for the past 30 years.

He became an emergency room nurse supervisor because of his past experience as a medic in Air Force.  He really enjoyed his job.

I was very proud of him and he taught me that no matter how old you are, you can still have that education.  Oh yes, and hats off to those who are attending nursing school and are single parents!  I wish you all well.

I think they just do ratios and that kind of thing in those math classes.
I don't know what they'd use algebra or trig for as a Nurse.

I can relate.  Math was never my strong point either, and I had to go through three levels of remedial math to get to college algebra!

Best of luck in your studies and feel free to email me when the going gets rough

We did algebra in my nursing school and it was a requirement to have to graduate. You would be surprised how you use algebra as nurse. For competencies we have to mathematical tests every year at my job. Finding the dose in something that is at MCG/kg/min and things of that nature. It is more than ratios.

Yup, popeye you missed that one. As the administrator of drugs of course a typo could happen, and it is best if you know it is too much or too little. A misplaced decimal point could kill someone.

And it does happen. They almost killed my Father, I'll not soon forget that. How this happened by accident I do not know, maybe they wanted to kill him. They wrote it with him getting three times the dosage of his vasodilator. That is exceedingly dangerous but we watch everything they do. My whole family does, but not everybody does, nor do they educate themselves. We have a PDR and plenty of other books. Not to even mention the internet.

Nurses can provide a stopgap between patients who might be killed and doctors who have drank fourteen pots of coffee in the last hour. They can be alot more important than most people realize.

servantheart, you give this 100% plus whatever else you can muster beyond that. Wait until you save your first life. There is no replacement for an experience like that.

Do it !

T
