Lol....about the first part of your post but I see your point and I agree I have heard that the Tech world is still fairly open maybe I should call back Itt Tech I've only finished one year of regualr college so its not too late to change Majors and see if there is opportunity there. I am quite literat with a computer and I admit I didnt even think of Web Design as a possibility.

Ozzfan1317 -> RE: Bush Is A Saint (6/1/2008 4:49:21 PM)

And Yes its spelled Literate and Regular they were both Typos..lol

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Bush Is A Saint (6/1/2008 4:56:32 PM)

web design can be done without a degree... Aviator actually had a really good idea for that (with the non-profit groups and all) it will get your name out there, so you can attract better and better clients, and with the right software, its a breeze

I make way too much money for how little work I actually do (at work now, and playing WoW if thats any indication) and all I have are some certs (A+ Net+ soon Cisco and MCSE)

i would just like to point out that some people who are on minium wage are there due to the fact that, thats all the government will give them. tries walking through the ghettos in DC or NY then see if they like living on a minium wage. have a damn heart

Word of advice - AVOID ITT Tech like the fucking plauge... Avoid any schools like that! They are overpriced diploma mills.

At my local community college - classes are $33 a credit hour. Shop around, you can probably find something a lot cheaper than ITT tech that will provide you even better quality training.

As an example, a few years ago I decided that I wanted an aircraft mechanics license so that I could do some of my own tinkering, restore an aircraft as a hobby, and sign off certain things like 100 hour inspections in my own business. I looked at a trade school that was $26,000. I wound up taking night classes at a community college and getting my airframe and powerplant license, as well an FCC general ratio telephone license with radar endorsement so I can work on avionics too, and an "Associates In Applied Science in Aircraft Maintence Technology" for less than $5,000. (It wasnt that cheap for all as I already had a bachelors and two masters (the registrar thought I had lost my mind. She was like YOU WANT TO BE AN AIRPLANE MECHANIC??) so I didnt have to take ANY general ed classes but still)

You can do better than ITT....

We really don't need a minimum wage in this Country. The market will take care of it. McDonalds pays $7.50 to $8.00 an hour here in Wisconsin. If you think the minimum wage is to low go work there..

I thought it was originally posted here, since the op was a joke (and I mean that literally

Termyn8or -> RE: Bush Is A Saint (6/1/2008 7:25:44 PM)

Yes it was in Off Topic and I tried to reply. Apparently it got moved while I was typing. It said "This thread does not accept replies" and I lost all I had typed, or typoed whichever the case. Fuck me.

Well now that we are in humor my reply would not be appropriate. Fuck me again.

A civilization should be judged by the way it treats its most vulnerable members.
There will always be those that just don't fit ... i'd rather live in a society than an economy.

Here is an interesting start, if anyone wants to say Bill Clinton was a great president...

http://www.etherzone.com/body.html

Please tell me you're joking.  This is just one example from your link.  Are you suggesting that these deaths, which the authorities investigated, were part of a Clinton murder conspiracy to silence their critics?

Tony Moser: 41, was killed as he crossed a street in Pine Bluff, Ark on on June 10, 2000. Killed 10 days after being named a columnist for the Democrat-Gazette newspaper and two days after penning a stinging indictment of political corruption in Little Rock.
Police have concluded that no charges will be filed against the unnamed driver of a 1995 Chevrolet pickup, which hit Moser as he was walking alone in the middle of unlit Rhinehart Road about 10:10 p.m

Police say they have ruled out foul play and will file no charges against the driver because he was not intoxicated and there was no sign of excessive speed.

Chickpea, I see where youre coming from but I just dont buy it. I didnt grow up with privelage or opportunity. My dad was a US Navy Master Chief. In fact he was the master chief from hell - he wasnt addressed as "dad" he was "Master Chief". His idea of how to comfort an injured child was to tell me that "pain is your friend its your bodys way of telling you that you aint dead yet!"  He taught me how to swim by throwing me off a dock and screaming "HOW BAD DO YOU WANNA LIVE PUSSY! TREAD THAT MOTHERFUCKING WATER!!!" He saw me being picked on when he picked me up from school and he made me get back out of the car to "beat that little motherfuckers face in, and if you lose them Im gonna kick your fucking ass!" No shit, he told me walk right up to the kid, and "punch him right in the snotbox then when you get him down kick his pussy face in"... Meanwhile HE kept the teachers from breaking it up, and thereafter my bully problem was solved. Growing up I hated him, but now that Im an adult I see he made me strong. I NEVER worked a minimum wage job in my life... I started out in construction as an assistant on a blasting crew drilling holes and eventually working with explosives. Ive done commercial diving / underwater welding. I put myself through the number 4 engineering college in the USA - in 3 years - while working on the midnight to eight shift as an EMT. I worked a summer on a wildland fire crew for the BLM. Ive never in my life done the McDonalds thing for minimum wage. When I graduated college, I joined the US Navy where Officer Candidate School was a breeze compared to growing up with my dad! Once I finished active duty in the Navy I went into the civilian world flight instructing and flying LearJets for an air ambulance company... Then I started my own business, after which I started another business. Nothing in my life was ever handed to me and I didnt get anything because the Govt "cared about me" or "was there to help me" I EARNED everything including the butter bars they put on my shoulders after OCS and the Gold Wings they pinned to my chest when I finished flight school and I paid for my six million bucks worth of flight training by putting my ass on the line over the skies of Iraq, then Somalia, then Iraq again...  People dont need a helping hand, they need to cowboy up and to take charge of their lives and to do what it takes to make THEMSELVES a sucess. You dont need privelage or influence. If a person can come up with $20 to start they can grow a business and earn a handsome living in this country.... They just need to do it, even if it means learning some things along the way or doing some unpleasant tasks others may not want to do.  The illegal alien who picks up my dog shit earns more than most americans because hes not afraid to work and to fill a need.

Your dad was a US Navy Master Chief  but you don't think you grew up privileged?  Tell that to the person whose dad was the IHOP Chief  Dishwasher.  Compare his opportunities to yours.  It's a little easier to "cowboy up" when you don't have to worry about where your next meal is coming from.

Your own example proves the market is not taking care of it.  $8.00 an hour?  That's $320/wk, $1280/mo, $15360/yr.  Who do you know that can afford to live on that as a single person, much less support a family?

Aanakaris -> RE: Bush Is A Saint (6/2/2008 7:37:03 AM)

Just to point out, when Bill Clinton was president there were just as many jokes about him and what he did as there are about Bush. Same with Bush, Sr. Same with Reagen and it will be the same with whomever steps in to take over when Bush is gone.

Not all political jokes need to become a tirade for somebody who has forgotten that making fun of our leaders is one of the most protected rights in the US.

I personally do not like GW's administration, nor did I like Clintons. I'm sure there will be things to dislike about Whomever is next and I will do my utmost to mock them as well.

But why is it that I see a bunch of Catholic and Jesus jokes with no comment and a Bush jokes sets people on fire. Relax, take a deep breath and come up with a funny Clinto joke as a rebuttal.

Howard

No I was most certainly not "priveleged"... In fact, his being a master chief shows that anyone can make something of themselves in this country. He was a highschool dropout when he joined the Navy and earned his GED because he needed it to got to school for First Class diver. So my dad didnt even finish highschool and made a life for himself and raised a son who went on to get 4 college degrees (BS - Engineering, Masters - Engineering , MBA, and an associates in "Aircraft Maintenence Technology)....
