Boozy, I'm sorry to hear your news, but don't be discouraged.....my son was also diagnosed when he was smaller, 5 years old.....he was on meds for about a year, the decision was made to stop them, and he's been pretty much ok since then. He's 23 now......pretty much has it under his own control now. Give the meds a chance tho......it will make her, and your, lives easier. If ADD and ADHD was a known problem when I was a kid, I would have been diagnosed the same....and trust me, I can remember the frustration of not having control over things, and how tough it was in school, and growing up. I watched my son go through alot of the same things, and have a friend whose son is also going through this. Since he's been on meds, he's such a happier kid.....he doesn't scream and holler and throw tantrums anymore when he doesn't get his way, he doesn't get frustrated when something doesn't go the way he likes it to, or wants it to go. He can actually concentrate on his school work, he's not disruptive in class.....he's a much calmer person all the way around. And that makes everything else easier for him, and his family. Sending you hugs and warm thoughts.....this will actually be beneficial for both of you. Cmail if you need to talk or anything.....k?
