ORIGINAL: soul2share Tiger....my chili recipe is very simple......I brown hamburger, add garlic, Hunt's chili recipe tomatoes when I can find them, garlic, tomato juice, garlic, red kidney beans, garlic, onions, garlic, green peppers, bell not hot, garlic, chili powder, maybe a package of the chili seasoning if I have it on hand, garlic, hmmmm....I think that may be it....oh yeah, and just a TOUCH of garlic! No measuring....I just toss cans of stuff in my crockpot till I can't fit anymore in.....but I use LOTS of beans, and my hamburg is in big chunks. The trick is to get it to boiling, let it do that for about 20 minutes, then turn it off and let it rest for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.....gives everything time to blend together, then start it again, but leave it at a slow simmer. I like my chili thick, but still soupy for dipping bread into. My chili isn't the kind that burns your mouth on impact...mine sneaks up on you after about the 5th ot 6th bite. Now my dad's on the other hand...it'll eat the enamel right off the pot! But oooohhhh..is it GOOOOOD! Damn...now I want some...... So lessie, about 8 cloves of garlic. Would you like some chili with your garlic? Hmm, 9 cloves here. Yeah that'd work... with that much you don't need the hot peppers! Sounds good to me, I like my chili nice and thick. Though I seem to be surrounded by spice intolerant people. Drives me absolutely mad. And thanks for sharing soul, I love to see how other people do their chili. Everybody seems to have a different take on it after all. *peers around* It's a strange strange quiet day in la la land. Oh wait it's the weekend, the usual suspects must be all tied up today.
