The windstorm blew a tree over and hit the outside powerbox. It caused a surge. We have a surge protector (a lesson learned after the last surge blew up the computer a few months ago). But somehow the surge came in through the phone line. The modem took the hit and had to be replaced. The computer is fine. All the phones and answering machine are fried.

Strange.

There is PLENTY of room up there. The billboard advertising can go from the top all the way down to your shirt collar with virtually zero interference. The rather massive area you call a forehead can still serve as a beam of light to miners everywhere...

Status: offline 		the dude from the phone company who replaced the modem said it is not too common, but it does happen. Thats why there is some sort of a mini surge protector in the modems now...thank goodness!!
