ORIGINAL: soul2share Aylee.....must be the bad cooking bug is around...I was trying to make a pot of chicken and rice soup, ended up a) not fully cooking the rice, but I don't know how, I must've boiled it for 45 minutes, then b) when I put everything back in the pot with the chicken broth, I ended up cooking all the broth away, either that, or the rice absorbed it....so now I have to get more chicken broth.......{sigh}...I really had a craving for the soup, so of course, I ate my way thru the fridge trying to find something that would take care of the craving......nothing did. Did you try just adding more water? You might also consider keeping that instant chicken stock around. Or bullion cubes. Or water and some curry. quote:
And I swear, I have to figure out a way to NOT burn myself.....I don't feel like digging thru 25 boxes looking for my crock pots, and I'm NOT buying another one, so I have a black enamel stock pot that I'm cooking with....so far, I've grabbed the lid on the damn thing 3 times without thinking......at least I'm burning the fingers on the same hand! DUH! I'm not used to having to use a potholder for my pans.......of course, my pot lids aren't all metal, either! Not positive what the handle on your lid looks like, but a couple of ideas are: leave a potholder on the top of the lid, buy child-proffing door knob things to attach, stick a wooden spoon through the handle, or buy some of that vinyl (I think it is) horseshoe shaped stuff and put it on the handle (a pair of those red plastic handled clamps work also). And there are my suggestions. Not that I have EVER had any issue like that whatsoever in my life!
