My immune is down a bit since I got fibromyalgia. I am a poster child according to one rhemy. I am constantly washing my hands if not santizizing them. I try to eat healthy foods, but the occasionally I will get a candy bar or ice cream. My weakness is gizzards (low fat, low salt, low carbs are killing me now). My cholestrol is 192 so I need to add oatmeal to the list of foods to eat.

My check came in this morning so I can get the fillings instead of the extraction. I can wait until July for it. ain't afraid of no drill...LOL!

Soul, I have lived with horrible dental phobia nearly my entire life.  I finally found a dentist who specializes in that & also uses sedation for any procedure you need.  I also used to take my little goggie with me.  He would lie on my lap & calm me.  The first time I went to him, I needed sedation for him to examine my teeth & gums & for the cleanings.  The last time I went, I had those procedures done with only nitrous.  I no longer needed the dog.  The staff hated that part, because they adored him.  LOL

Did the er doctor say what kind of fracture it is? I remember when Lizard broke her arm. one bone had a closed compound and the other bone was a greenstick.

we decided that the she had to have surgery to finish breaking the greenstick sone she can have pens to make them heal properly.

She still has the suture site on her arm.

I have no idea, Shar, which is why i am headed to the ortho this soon. I guess a broken collarbone was not their priority in Neuro ICU, and i understand that.
The hospitals ortho was in and talking to me, but i have no memory of it at all (one of the nurses told me he was there).
There is a huge distortion of my arm between the shoulder and the elbow, and it is not going down as i thought it would if it was just simple swelling.

Glad that Lizard is ok...but damn...that had to be a bad break.

LINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (4/30/2010 5:05:50 AM)

She went quite a few casts to make sure she was okay. She also learn that when mommy says to put on safety equipment to do so, even at daddy's place.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (4/30/2010 5:07:39 AM)

HOLLLLLYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You reminded me of a time when I was working as a ward clerk in a trauma hospital & a biker was brought in with a fractured elbow.  Totally unrelated to his dumping his bike, he had a GI bleed in the ER.  Once they got him stabilized from that, they sent him up to my floor.  When the nurse went to admit him, he asked if anybody was going to look at the elbow now!

Your arm sounds like my mother-in-law's when she had fractured her humerus.  I really hope I'm wrong.  Which I probably am, since I am not a Dr, nor do I even play one on TV.  [8|]

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (4/30/2010 6:43:04 AM)

Morning all!

Well, isn't this just a fine howdy-do?  I got sandals to wear last night, for the first time in over seven years, and I was going to wear capri's today (first time EVER) because it has been so hot here.  I mean, I was actually wearing a tank top outside yesterday.  So, I have finally got myself mentally willing and ready to wear some capri's and a lightweight top and sandals. . . and today it is raining with thunder and lightening.  ARGH!

So. . . I shall be wearing my plain old boring jeans and top when I go for my DOT physical today.  I have no idea why I cannot get any cooperation around here.  [>:]

On a happy note, Butterhead has her first baby-doll.  We had a couple for her, but they were still in their boxes.  In my effort not to enforce gender stereotyping of toys, I had stated that she could have them when she showed an interest in baby dolls.  this has led some members of my family to believe that I have some sort of issue with dolls.[8|]

Well, we went out to dinner with some friends on Saturday night, their middle son had just had his first communion, and after dinner we went to their house.  Her girls have baby dolls and she the youngest girl playing with one.  Butterhead was fascinated and got to play with it also.  So, the other night I opened up one of her baby dolls to play it.  She has been enjoying playing at feeding the baby and taking its hat off.

The almost creepy part is that this baby doll is pretty much the same size Butterhead was when she was born.  Talk about a, "Wow, you have grown," moment.

Morning all, I've got to admit I don't understand dental phobia. Of course it's unpleasant but losing your teeth is much worse.

Although if I ever need another root canal, I am not using the one attached to my dentist's office. It got infected and he couldn't identify it. Since it;s a large practice I walked the day after seeing the idiot back into the office and insisted someone competent see it. He knew at once what was wrong and had to prescribe Flagyl for it, which would not have happened if the idiot had followed standard procedure and given me an easier antibiotic to prevent anearobic (sp) infections.

Phobias by definition are unreasonable fears.  There is no consequence that will make one not be phobic.  Perhaps if you remember that, you can be more understanding.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (4/30/2010 9:06:59 AM)

Got one of the fillings done. Since I am still on the meds for the pneumonia, he wanted to wait and see on the extraction.

Right now, I just want to go lay down and snozze the rest of the day away (since I did get up at 5 CDT).

damn it, my nose is numb again!

Glad to see you up and around. By the way, if that "distortion" turns in to a third arm, you might want to have them adjust your meds.

just saying

I've known people with it. I didn't mean to sound snotty. Apologies if I did.
But I've had enough dental surgery to know that putting it off causes much worse problems later on. And the risk of cardiac infection from untreated dental woes isn't worth  it. Nobody wants to die of a cardiac illness caused by an untreated cavity. Unfortunately that is always a possibility.

Perhaps I've been fortunate enough to have always had caring dentists who will prescribe a Valium for a patient if necessary to get through a procedure.

Good luck with that Holly....when I broke my arm in 1989 they did surgery as it was obvious that it was disformed...(didnt need to cut but had to put it into line again....) When they took off the cast after 6 weeks (and cut into my skin with their saw[>:]) they realised it was still not ok as one bone was "just" together and the other not yet so they put another one on for another 2 weeks...made me wonder why they couldnt do their fucking x-ray before taking the cast off in the first place [8|][8|]

and whilst they did a good job overall, I can't bend it to the same degree as my other arm...

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (4/30/2010 12:09:38 PM)

There have been times in my life when I was unable to even push the door to the dentist's office open to get inside to get the meds to calm me down.  Nothing I tried helped for many years.  I finally found a dentist whose hygienist did hypnosis.  I don't believe in allowing a phobia to rule my life, so believe me, I have worked very very hard to get to the point where I could sit in a dentist's chair.  Unfortunately it was too late to really save much.
