Red Robin is a gourmet burger restaurant.

Dunno about that "gourmet" part.  They have a raucous, upbeat atmosphere similar to an Appleby's.  It's a sit-down place.

There's one a half mile from me and I got sick when I ate there.  A friend of mine ate there twice and got sick both times.  I'm avoiding the entire chain of 'em.

PeanutTigerinBox -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 6:56:01 AM)

I am not much a meat person in general....when I eat a burger than usually only a single one because when it contains too much meat (eg such in double burger or with bacon added on to it) I don't like it as it is too much meat in general....that was quite funny (I don't remember it but my parents and granny used to talk about it until granny passed away) when my grandpa accused me, aged approx. 5, to have stolen his huge bacon he had in the hallway....considering I was never overly keen on meat and preferred cheese a lot they knew that whoever nicked it, it wasn't me [:D]

These days I am still happy to eat meat free for 4-5 days per week, which is why it makes me laugh when some folks at work think they can judge my weight on eating too much read meat or eating too huge portions, as both isn't the case [:D] ...and not their business anyway [>:]

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 8:33:57 AM)

we got a chicken for dinner tonight.  will add mixed veggies and some pasta.

I love meat, fowl, and piggies.  I feel a lot better if I  have protein intake.

BTW, ty DS for the report about RR.  I will avoid it like the plague.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 8:46:06 AM)

They wear ROBIN SUITS at RR? That is enough to make me want to go back there. I would be all over that.

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 9:03:43 AM)

I dunno, I've eaten at RR many times and never had a problem.  Between the size of the burgers and the endless steak fries, for $10, it's still one of the better deals out there for a burger.

There's a place here that folks rave about, Five Guys, that is supposed to have great burgers, haven't gotten to them yet, but they are pretty pricey too.  There isn't one close to me, and when I'm near one, I'm never hungry!

windchymes -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 9:08:16 AM)

Mmmm, Five Guys [:)] They're worth every penny, too. Old-fashioned kind of fresh burgers that they smash onto the grill, toasted bun, horribly (in a good way!) greasy fries, and they even have malt vinegar to slosh on them. It'll kick your triglyerides up a few hundred points, definitely!

scifi113 -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 10:42:10 AM)

I only eat at 5 guys once a month because I am actually trying not to drop dead of a heart attack this year....but oh my god are they good.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 11:03:40 AM)

I do loves five guys, though the fries are not to my taste. Which leaves more room for meat!

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 12:18:50 PM)

For a time, there was a Johnny Rockets in mall at Austin.  50's style clothing, sit up like a ice cream shop.  One of the waiters gave me the chocolate soda recipe after I flashed him of pleasure lost...

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 3:10:44 PM)

I haven't been to the Five Guys yet, it's just down the road from Sonic and there's nothing like those Sonic drinks during summer.

But the Red Robin here I've been to numerous times and no problems ever. Sounds like DS's individual restaurant was at fault, not a chain thing. Are they corporately owned or franchised? That might make a difference.

GreedyTop -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/28/2010 11:06:02 PM)

There's a five guys here in town somewhere.. never been.

I miss TOmmy's Burgers, in CA..*sigh*

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/29/2010 3:20:25 AM)

hmmmmm......guess  I need to try 5 guys.......I'm craving some grease, anyway!

I'm gonna get all engineer on you here... if the quality control at the top isn't there, you get bad apples.  Look at McDonalds - they are not known for high quality but are known for phenomenal consistency.

That said, there is a Five Guys a few miles away, as well as a Smashburger one mile away, and I might try them out.  Although Gunther Toody's is a riot.  Are there Gunther Toody's restaurants outside Colorado?

SorceressJ -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (9/29/2010 4:24:52 AM)

Damn, now I am seriously hungry for a big, nasty, juicy burger. This early in the morning, no less.
It's going to be That Kind of Day.. [:D]
