I will agree with everyone else that climbing rope is too inflexible and stiff to be of much use for tying around flesh.

I disagree. I've been using 6mm static climbing rope for a while, and that worked pretty fine. Never any problem, not even with the wrists. I still sometimes grab it when I want to try something dangerous for the first time.

Though I definately prefer my hemp and jute ropes for the feel, smell and look of it...

There is a great site where you can purchase all colors of rope and if you are into bondage as an art form, you will be quite pleased with the effect of colors against your slave's skin. You can find them at http://www.rainbowrope.com/

I noticed that you said you use other forms or rope than hemp, cotton, and silk. I was wondering if you have ever used climbing rope? There is a sports store in my area owned by a professional climber and he passes along great deals to the people who shop there. I can't help but think the bright colors of climbing rope would make for an interesting effect.
If you have used any if the past could you tell me how it came out?

I prefer natural fibre as the 'grip' makes it more suitable, also climbing rope is too thick to tie tidy knots.

In answer to the OP, yep, we are out here! Click on the link on my signature to see my take on kinbaku.

I love bondage. There are specific conventions for bondage, like Shibaricon.

Too bad in Europe there isn't anything like that, and a trip to the USA is a bit too expensive for me at the moment:s The only thing we're having in Europe is boundcon, but that's more shows and less workshops for as far as I've heard.. And althougt shows are nice to watch, I rather do the rigging myself:)

Greetings, Pluutje

What about Boundcon in Munich?

And by now we (Plu& me) are organising our own second rope bondage camping weekend in Belgium next week full with workshops & other fun. Not that it can live up to shibaricon standards, but it was great last year, and is gonna be more fun this year!

If you tie 'em up right in the the first palce, you'll find there is very little shit left to fuck out of 'em

Just a word from the sub point of view.     Shabari once completed is great, the time it takes is a different story. Or maybe i was with someone new to it.     Intricate rope work takes time,    If  He has had to retie several times due to mistakes or whatever the normal sub is counting cracks in the ceiling and thinking redecorating.    Give us something to occupy us, at least while You're learning.

No offence meant,    but the colour of the rope from the sub point of view is irrelevant,  wether it leaves unintentional burn is. Theres pain and pain.

Hope oneday to meet someone who doesnt take 2 hours to work out the knots etc, but wont hold my breath.

Er, not to nitpick or anything ..... but its just you.

I know plenty of folks who are thriled by the long slow drawn out process. Its sensation play for them. To feel the rope draged flowly across flesh. And there is also the aspect that it can put you into a medetative state of mind. Like yoga.

And as for color, maybee its not doing anything for you, but again there are people who feel difrently. They just have an exhibitionist streak and they want the rope to look as perty as they feel.

Everyons experence is difrent.

Did you go to Shibaricon its first  or second year?  You've always looked familiar and now I wonder if we didn't meet there.

Ok....I was drawn to this thread as I love rope.  Not only the tying but the being tied.  To the poster who complained it takes to long...I can have you in a typical tortoise harness in about 5 minutes if I so choose. However I typically choose to go very very slow as I love the sound, the feel and the vibrations the rope makes as it moves against the skin and itself.  I do often apply faster than I remove though...that's even hotter...the slow release.

I love to watch the traditionalists who really get into the whole of the Shibari, though I prefer just to do what seems right and don't worry about offending the *S* Rope Gods.  I prefer to use MFP from Rainbow Rope because of the ease in cleaning, the beautiful colors, softness/pliability and different widths available.  I can't imagine doing cbt with climbing rope  but if it does it for you, then great.

I learned most of what I do from the creator of Shibaricon (MorTis) as well as some of the others who are well known in the lifestyle for bondage (Midori, Scott Smith, Dov, Jimi Tatu, Bridgette Harrington).  For the record, Scott Smith is a bit um...more visceral than I like to be when it comes to rope but damn he knows his stuff.  Jimi is one of the more traditional types and is beautiful from start to finish in everything he does.

I love suspension and inescapable bondage as much as I love the simplest of Shibari and will easily spend 30 minutes determining what to do with my last 10ft of rope....For me it is much about the pretty and the sensualness of it.  Just typing this post makes me all giddy wet.   *Where's my slave when I need him?*

I revel in the time it takes....I find it sensual to watch him so intent on his work.....I admire his insistance to retie at times....we both have a perfectionist streak in us....and I know he won't be happy until every knot is just as he wants it.....which I will admit, has very pleasant results when all is said and done.
