Status: offline 		i can confirm that i have seen it done to others, and felt it being done to me and had to clean up the mess afterwards.   In the hands of the inexperienced they are probably LESS dangerous, oddly enough, as they do not know how to correctly deliver the strike, but they can be a delicious and vicious tool in the hands of the experienced.   The scars heal; the memories never go away.

BTW, why isn't this in 'General BDSM'?

Status: offline 		I've been whipped with a singletail at about 7-10 play parties, and heavy blood was drawn on all but one occasion. If I'm not standing on a sheet, the floor gets stained. Blood flies across the room and lands on a wall, or on the body of a spectator. (Talk about your awkward social situations.)

In short, yes, a singletail is very capable of drawing blood. Your guy is full of shit.

Someone who saw me trying to get the hang of it against a soft target, melon IIRC. To say I was really bad at first would be an understatement. Having a 4 by 4 dangling on a rope made for a target I could get the feel for how far the whip reached and how hard it was hitting.

Status: offline 		Lets see , i have ripped apart a soda can on a single strike , as well as a plastic  milk jug , broken glass , and yes left open  bloody marks on human flesh . That said i have also left marks that disapeared within hours , and  minor raised welt like marks too .A whip /single tail  tool is only as good as the person who is  using it , it takes much time to be good at it as well . I saw a Whip Master take thick belt leather and cut it in 1/2 with whip strikes  , he then removed a single petal from a flower .Archer , that mole removal is impressive ^5 .

Status: offline 		I knew a few gurls in SF that used to carry single tails as a self defense weapon since i was illegal to carry guns or such at the time. They can do IMMENSE damage, I worked for a company once and we were oiling up a 16ft singletail(was for show but very expensive) The guy weilding it was out in the street working it and snapping small limbs off a tree with it. You could easily kill someone with it if you got a lucky snap off to the throat, or knock a eye out.

Just as a heavy cane can cause deep bruising and broken bones in the hands of a person without control, so can a whip in the wrong hands do serious damage by someone who has none. Watch someone pop the petals off of a rose ,one petal at a time and you will understand whip control. IMO, a singltail whip in an experianced whip throwers hands is much more controllable and most times, safer then a flogger. The whip goes exactly where the person throwing it aims for while the falls of a flogger sometimes have a mind of their own. YMMV.

Status: offline 		Yes singles tails can cut the skin and leave scars, if the the weilder is hitting with enough skill he can leave patterned scars. It will also leave large welts and damage the skin. A single tail can be used in a variaty of ways from light stinging to damage.

Status: offline 		I saw a very interesting technique in Orlando.  The sub had to hold a wad of toilet paper between her legs, that stuck out just below her bottom.  The top then used a singletail to rend the tp to pieces.  It was a head-trip for the sub, because if she moved at all (or if the top had a bad throw) she'd get cut up.

Status: offline 		I had a Wheeler for a short time - a very short time. I'd had it only a couple of weeks, with little opportunity to work it, and then went to a party. it managed to disappear. I forget the price but it was several hundred bucks. In anycase I have no idea what my skills with a short whip like that are/would be.

I've been using 12' and longer bullwhips since I was a teenager. The one I have now is 14' long. I am accurate and controlled enough that I can, quite literally, trim hedges with it. I've yet to find a volunteer to let me use it on them. Perhaps some brave and masochistic soul will volunteer someday.
