In another post StrongSpirit mentioned dental dams. It made me remember my experience with them.

It was roughly an 8"x8" square of purple latex. (I think it was even supposed to be grape flavored). So I went to work. I was quickly getting the distinct flavor of pussy. I repositioned the thing, and it was moved out of where it needed to be too quickly. Quite simply, it would only have been large enough if I was pleasuring an Asian midget.

She said it was not a pleasurable experience. There's no sucking with dental dams, as suction pulls the dam off the skin, i.e. no contact or suction felt by her. The warmth of the tongue is dulled, the texture lost. The wetness can be replaced by lube (hers or bottled), but itsn't the same slimy goodness as spit. The wetness of the whole operation (at least the way I was doing it O.o) overflowed the dam.

In short, I either a) was doing it wrong, or b) was using a crappy product.

Does anyone have any better experience with these? Does anyone have know a better product? Has anyone been sufficiently pleasured while using one?

Try female condom instead....on the plus side-if you fasten down the edges of a dam, it can snap with a hellava sting if you pull it out far enough.

As I understand it, female condoms are not very useful for oral. That is what I'm talking about.

If it's just the size that was the problem, get yourself some nonmicrovable saran wrap and use that. The microwavable ones will allow transmission of viruses.

Experiment with different lubes. Yes it is different, but if you are not fluid bonded, you either use one or risk transmission of disease.

Getting a dental dam to stay in place can be difficult. The best method is a rope harness. It can be tied tight enought that you can use suction and it provides a squeezing effect on the vulva that some ladies find pleasureable.

Second that....trying to have safe sex with your partner is super lame. I hate safe sex.

On a serious note, though, dental dams do kind of suck. Some feelings just can't be conferred latex...if only there was a better way to keep things safe.

As a lesbian, I have used dental dams many times in the past. For me, the best way is to apply a thin layer of lubricant onto your partner's body surface, place the dental dam over the area, then lick and rub away. This will give your partner a smoother and more realistic sensation. If it is something you plan to use/do with your partner often, you can buy a cheap pair of panties, cut out the "important" parts, and lay the dental dam between your partner and the panties so that the dam stays in place with less effort on your part. Some dental dams even have adhesive on them for a more secure fit. Remember to use a new dental dam each time you have oral sex and use only one side. Best of luck!
