Not only is this "campaign" comic book horribly offensive and makes me seriously angry, whoever did the "artwork" needs to get fired. So, Mr. Rinehart, I give you my WTF award for the year!

MissAidan -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/19/2008 9:55:38 AM)

It makes me sad to know that some people in this world would stoop to this level to accomplish their own self-rightous agenda.

corsetgirl -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/19/2008 10:05:25 AM)

I second that award to Mr. Rinehart and this ignoramous is doing this for political gain.  I would not be too surprised if he has a cone-shaped hat in his closet.  That is the closest thing to what the Ku Klux Klan does for their publications.  Hopefully, this person will not be elected as dog catcher, let alone any political office.

UglyTruth -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/21/2008 1:47:07 AM)

That is definitely WTF-worthy.

I hope his trial goes badly for him.

aggressiveblkdom -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/21/2008 4:43:33 AM)

This coming from a politician?! *gasp* Who would've thought? Now let's not be suprised if sometime down the road some secret male lover of his comes forward, LOL. This is definitely WTF material.

opposingtwilight -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/21/2008 7:46:26 AM)

I guess I just don't get why its so shocking ...

I agree that its dirty politics and in way poor taste but is it really any worse than any other antics we've seen politicians pull?

angaothsi -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/21/2008 9:25:04 PM)

I got about halfway through this  "comic" now I feel a bit filthy and feel the need for a shower. I dont think "asshole of the year" is good enough for him.

Vendaval -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/21/2008 10:39:24 PM)

Ignorant, tacky, bad artwork and full of mis-spellings.
I give it an "F". [sm=soapbox.gif]

Huntertn -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/22/2008 4:11:35 AM)

LOLOLOLOL.you really think he was going to spend real money to have this type of crap printed?????

Psychodahlia -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/23/2008 6:38:26 PM)

Pffft. What do I care about some pointy-headed, obscure politician's crappy little comic book? Whether he likes it or not, gay rights are gaining more and more ground. He can print up all the hate he wants, all I have to do is be patient and keep lobbying.

patwi -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/23/2008 6:54:58 PM)

Reminds me of these gems.

I was being sarcastic.

ownedgirlie -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/24/2008 1:05:54 AM)

OK I'll give it my [sm=wtf.gif]vote.

I kept thinking "serious acid trip" as I scrolled through.

Gah! I hate those! When I worked in food service this one guy kept coming in and putting them on the tables, even though we asked him not to. When he saw me going behind him and throwing them away, he had the gall to say I was persecuting him because of his religion.

Leatherist -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/24/2008 4:27:30 PM)

Reminds me of those really bad sex comics.

I work at a reptile zoo which doesn't shy away from evolution and adaptaion, and so some people hand me the creationism ones on occasion. It makes me giggle.  I wish one of these times, I'd get a copy of "Dark Dungeons."

Rinehart admits that the book is "edgy at times" but claims that it is not bigoted or homophobic. "What you do in the bedroom is private, but when it comes to public policy, that's a different matter. When they make it [like adding rules making sexual orientation one of the forms of discrimination outlawed in Oklahoma City schools] public policy, that's where I get a little irate."

So he openly, in the public record, admits to supporting discrimination.

nice.

Dude needs some art lessons, too.

TheHungryTiger -> RE: This got a WTF from me. (7/24/2008 8:46:20 PM)

I remember reading once in some SubGenius book the expresion 'The hate is hungry. Feed it'. The idea behind the saying is that if you want free publicity just do something to piss off the christians and you will get all the attention you could ever want. .....

But this I think demonstrates the same efect only in reverse. Do something to piss of gay actovates and you get a national story on ABCnews.

The article talks just a little bit about the felony campaign finance fraud charges. A little bit of googling dosent turn up much info about the felony fraud charges, but there sure is a heck of a lot people have to say abotu some stupid comic.

Far from being an example of homophobia, I think its a brilant (although slimy) political move on his part. He wanted to stop he headlines about his felony fraud charges and without even spending a dime he now has that story all but erased from the press. In its place, an artificialy created 'scandel' that gets peoples minds off the felony fraud charges.

wow. I didn't even look at it that way. huh. That'll come to my mind next time I get angry and want to rant, that maybe I'm giving them exactly the kind of attention they want---any at all.

Well, yes and no.

For Brent Rinehart I think the corect responce is to be MORE pissed off. Here is a guy steeling money from the public treasury and he is trying to deflect attention away with an artificialy created 'homophobia scandle'. If gaybashing earns him the WTF of the year award, then media manipulation to cover up a fraud scandle ought to earn him the WTF of the century award.

But for others the more reasoned responce is 'ignore them and you take away their power'. Take for example Fred Phelps of the Westbourgh babstist church (the 'god hats fags' church). Remember that he is not a minister. He is a lawer by profesion. Any place that he tries to get a permit and is denyed, he files a lawsuit on ~religious~ discrimination. He has colected milions this way. If he is just ignored, the city could issue a permit knowing that nothing will happen. No lawsuit. He dosent get money. His whole act is dependent on gay rights advocates freaking out. The city has no choice but to deny the permit in order to avoid war in the streets. And gay rights advocates give him exactly the free publicity that he depends on.
