How could I forget Norman Bates? Not a submissive character to emulate, but a great character nonetheless.

I love all the great replies on here! Clearly I wasn't stretching my brain far enough when I was trying to come up with a list of fictional submissive-types!

Thanks to everyone for their responses, and the many additions to my reading list!

One of my two favorites would be Christine from The Phantom of the Opera... especially if you read the Susan Kay story Phantom which goes into his backstory and gets deeper into the character's heads than is possible in a live performance.

I also love both Kate from The Taming of the Shrew and Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing.

How about Taggert and Rosewood in Beverly Hills Cop. Both to Bogomil and Axel?  A lot of dynamic going on there.

Just finished rereading Civil to Strangers by Barbara Pym, and I think Cassandra Marsh-Gibbon is a wonderful submissive.

The early presentations of He-man, who served the Goddess. Dolph Lundgren was lovely to watch at in the movie too, even though the servant dynamics wasn't present that much there.

Darth Vader

"What is thy bidding, my master?"

"Luke, you do not know the power of the dark side. I MUST obey my master."

Granted, ol Vader wigged out when the emperor violated one of his limits by trying to kill his son.

Oh, yes. I got into horror movies at an early age and the first time i watched the original Psycho i found myself holding my breath when Norman (Anthony Perkins) would enter a scene. My first taste of REAL suspense.

i enjoy science fiction, especially the Stargate series (both SG1 and Atlantis).  Jack O'Neill is definitely submissive, especially to Daniel.  And on Atlantis or off, Sheppard is extremely submissive, especially to Elizabeth. Both men are in positions of authority that seem to wear on them and it would be easy to see them giving up all control for a bit.  Radek Zelenka i can see as a slave.

In the X-Files, Mulder was definitely a sub.

Ron Weasley is subby, from Harry Potter as is his father, Arthur.

In Much Ado about Nothing,  one of my favorite movies, i find that Beatrice is not all that submissive but Heiro is.

Soubi is totally the subbie there. Ritsuka is just a terrible Dom (after Beloved). Actually, the whole dynamic is somewhat muddled there, to be honest.

Yum, Soubi. ^_^ Yum, semi-erotic ear piercing.
