No mention of The Piano Teacher? or The Night Porter?? WTF?!?!?!

Other than that, very cool article. IMHO, Exit to Eden wasn't that bad, maybe I have to watch it again but, in a recent advice gained from a wiser Dom makes me remember a scene in that movie: the main character is bound up in the 'x' position. the Domina spanks him on the ass and he is very uncomforted by that until she gets out of him what is holding him back and he starts to cry. I think that could be used seen as humiliation too. And it was a positive experience. Something of which, as far as D/s & BDSM in film is concerned, is a rarity.

The Secretary is also a rare one, it's the only one that i have seen so far that doesn't have a tragic ending with the characters in a D/s situation. Good thing i'm here to change that in the industry :)

Sincerely,
SirWaxaLot

I'm sorry but Exit to Eden, for me, is easily in my top ten worst movies ever. Walk All Over Me, while not that good, was entertaining enough and the two actresses looked fantastic.

EVER!?!?!

I can list at least 50 worse films than Exit to Eden. However, the way it was done, while poking a little fun at the lifestyle, it also opened it up to the very core elements of Trust and Growth in the more serious scenes that were riddled in the comedy. The main character starts out a very vanilla, judgmental person who looks upon the Mistress and what she does as only a sexual act. When he gets cuffed to the wall he's thinking she's going to do something sexual, but she doesn't. Instead, she paddles him while questioning him. He becomes increasingly uncomfortable, until he breaks down and cries when the Mistress finally gets to a past childhood experience.

That scene alone, I'm sure, opened some peoples minds about that world in a positive way. May not have been the best 'film' but it had a more accepting tinge to the community and lifestyle. I gotta see it again though.

Sincerely,
SirWaxaLot

Exit to Eden was crap, try Preaching to the perverted, with the incredible Miss Turner, or Cruising with Al Pacino.

Really? I mean, Sir said something about keeping me around being worth a kidney, but I thought He was just talking about how awesome I was.

Time to toddle off, there's this guy in some back alley He wants me to meet. Says he's nimble with his fingers, kinda like a surgeon. I wonder what we're going to be doing?

"Preaching to the Perverted" is very funny, especially if you've seen the London kink scene.

"Exit to Eden" has some beautifully-produced parts, and then there's Dan Akroyd and the stupid spy plot. The book was much better.

"Bound" is quite good. It's a lesbian piece, very well done.

The original "Story of O" is very well done. Later remakes, sequels, and prequels are far worse.

"Weather Report Girl", a Japanese anime, does domination very well, and it's funny. There's apparently a live action version of this, which I haven't seen.

There was another film that I thought was deeply rooted in D/s, though never billed as such - "Black Snake Moan" with Sam Jackson and Christina Ricci. Serious threads of addiction, pathology, but also redemption.

My favorite BDSM film is "9-1/2 Weeks"...especially the scene where Mickey Rourke's character tells Kim Basinger's character to "spread her legs" while they are testing out beds in a furniture store.....Makes me wet every time I watch that!

I also enjoyed the previously mentioned film, "Bound".

I like "The Image",  Well made movie and on par with The Story of O, only better.  The orginal was called The Punishment of Anne.  It's available on DVD.

"Exit to Eden" was probably the most screwed up book adaptation I've ever withnessed. The shitty "jewel heist" subplot (straight out of a Dexter Riley Disney film) and the horrid mis-casting of the guy playing Elliot, just left me cold. They took an A+ romance, and turned it into a D- comedy. What a waste!

Tokyo Decadance was intersting... although flawed.

"Matrisse" with Gerard Depardeu was also pretty good, although it had a rather tawdry subtext to it.

"Story of O" was good, although it really did lose a lot in translation from the book.

I would reccommend "Love and Human Remains" though, which tells a serial killer mystery, and uses BDSM as a red herring. Still, some of the scenes are pretty hot.

I thought that The Pet sucked too, unconsensual slavery is horrible IMO. I didn't like The Secretary because it made both the Dom and sub look like they had mental conditions and that is an image that most vanilla persons already have of people involved in BDSM.

New to the boards....i liked The Secretary a lot.  i love James Spader and i really liked the quirky cinematography, plus i did like the psychological aspect of their D/s, even though they lacked some basic communication skills!

I know this isn't really a D/s film and there was no physical contact AND Natalie Portman was under 18, but...i thought The Professional was a good movie with strong D/s undertones.  i wonder if others would disagree b/c she was insistent on receiving training, BUT...she obeyed and followed His training, even though it wasn't sexual training...and little things like Him telling her not to curse anymore or that she will not smoke; kind of like James Spader did in The Secretary.  Those commmands, given in THAT tone....i dunno about others, but oh man!  Makes me weak at the knees!!!

I haven't seen some of the other films mentioned, but i am always looking for good, quirky entertainment, so....  i'll have to check some of them out.

i think that is a matter of opinion. The sub character came from a dysfunctional family and self harmed- i don't know if i would describe that as a "mental condition". There are surely plenty of people in the BDSM community and the wider world who have these problems and any kind of relationship which was right for them and made them happy would possibly help them deal with these facts/issues. The dominant character finds his own instincts confusing and upsetting. Part of the film is about how he deals with this. Again i would not say he has a "mental condition". i'm sure there are many Dom/me s out there who, maybe when younger, or even when experienced but dissolusioned, have questioned whether They want to be involved in this lifestyle at all. i don't think it was supposed to be a positive image campaign for BDSM. Just a love story that involved it.... (*giggles* it was the film that told me i wasn't alone and maybe i wasn't that weird- can you tell? from the impassioned defending there?)

Blue Velvet, please.

I notice that quite a few films that mention bondage at all, has it, like, with the dude being the sub, and the woman being the Domme...It's rare to see that vica-verca, at least from what I've seen.
