I'm a bookworm and always on the lookout for more great stuff to read (though I have piles of books I need to read, it's sick.) I've always liked hearing what people are reading for pleasure and what they think of it- hopefully I'm not the only one that does! :) I just thought i'd be nice to have a thread where all the bookworms can share and recommend books.

I'm nearing the end of "Soon I Will Be Invincible" by Austin Grossman. Basically it's a take on the superhero theme, from the viewpoint of Doctor Impossible, a super villian, and Fatale- a woman that became half cyborg and joined a superhero team. It's done very dry with an eye to the human flaws of the super powered, and I've been enjoying it a lot. I was expecting more humor, but I still recommend it.

I read that last month. If you enjoy it you might also want to check out Superpowers, by David J Schwartz. It's a similar poke at the superhero genre, though from a different angle (Five college kids wake up to discover they have superpowers, and the ramifications of such).

Currently I'm switching back and forth between Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace, The Beach by Alex Garland, and The Politics of Friendship by Derrida. I keep being distracted by the fact The Times is giving away a free book every day at the moment, so I'm accumulating a bit of a pike to get through.

I am reading the third Installment of the Khavren Romances called "The Viscount of Adrilanka"

I am reading Book one "The Count of Castle Black"

I need to buy the second book still

then I will be reading the Third Book called "Sethra Lavode"

They are By Steven Brust and if you have followed my posts you will know that he is One of us and he is also the Man who taught me to play Texas Hold 'em.

The Kahavren Romances will feel a LOT like the Three Musketeers because he admits they were a LARGE influence on him.

He also has written some 10 books on a character Vlad Taltos which are VERY GOOD.

My Favorite book in the world was "To Reign In Hell" a Book about the revolt in heaven before the creation of Man. It was my favorite book since I was 12 and so when I met the man and then found out that he was also in the lifestyle it was like getting to meet Mickey Mouse at Disney Land.

Hopefully he doesn't read this because his Ego is grand enough that he had to create a whole different world and multiple characters just to accomidate it but seriously if you get the chance look into Steven Brust he is an Amazing Author, IF and ONLT IF you are into Fantasy.

I recently became hooked on the show "Bones", so I started reading some of the books by Kathy Reichs, the forensic anthropologist the show is based on.  The character in the books really bears really little similarity to the one on the tv show, but they're still a pretty good read if you're into that kind of stuff.

Having just read my first Kathy Reichs novel, I couldn't agree more.  It took me quite a few chapters to get through the differences and put my mindset into the novel as opposed to the show (being a big big fan of  Bones).

For pure shits and giggles, I am absolutely addicted to Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series.....desperately awaiting the release of 14 in soft cover (bad wrists and all).  I highly recommend her novels for the simple pleasure of laughing, at life, at circumstances, at body imperfections...with some occasional hot hot implied sexual treats thrown in.  Great escape novels for those who like to escape now and then.

When in thinking mode, I adore Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, James Patterson.....and anything else legal, medical, who-done-it.

Im going thru the first int he Black Dagger Brotherhood at the moment, But I also have a thing for Richard Laymons stuff, Michael Slade, Patricia Cornwell, Brian Lumley and Clive Barker
But Ive been watching a load of documentaries lately and havent been  reading much

I will be going to the store tonight to buy the new Stephenie Meyer novel Breaking Dawn. It is the 4th and final in a series and is a love story between a vampire and a mortal set in modern times. My daughter read it first and loved it, so I read the first one and then had to go look for the other 2! And I have been looking forward to the finale for months now! They are also making a movie out of the first book called Twilight. It will come out December 12th. I just hope they are true to the book.

Nixonland: The Rise of a President and the fracturing of America.  Very good so far.

Also reading "Savage Beauty" the biograhy of the amazing poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. *cuz she was a redhead from maine that liked lots of kinky fun too[;)]

I just finished the last by LA Banks in her Vampire Huntress series. Those are books I highly recommend, well written with a completely different slant on the strong female/vampire genre. Really good and I need the next one (not yet published dammit) but she has over a dozen so far.
Great web site too and she has a book to download from it, I love when authors do that.

I read and read but mostly tech manuals...so for fun I don't want or need deep thoughts...lol.

So for now I am reading the excellent exploits of  FBI Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast and his evil brother Diogenes. It is a many series continuing story that often takes place in the deep dark subbasements of the New York Museum of Natural History.

Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child teem up for can't put down page turning gut churning mystery and drama that will have you staying up late at night when you should be sleeping.

Start with the Relic and follow the murder and mayhem for another 11 books if you like.

oh man...the scene in Hot 6 where the dog (after eating a box of cereal (including the cardboard) and 2 boxes of prunes) gets kidnapped.  Priceless.

i just worry that sooner or later she's going to kill her uncle's Buick... i have a lot of affection for it [:(]

Currently reading book 5 of Stephen King's Dark Tower series... so far, with the exception of the first book, it's been a very good read.

Once i finish the series i'll probably start bugging the library for the latest Anita Blake novel...
