That's a very good point as it seems to be that the public at large slept through the sexual revolution of the 70's as well as when women burned their bra's.  It's still, as you said, unacceptable with society as a whole for a woman to take charge unless it's over a bunch of screamin brats.  IE: grand children make ME appear to be dominant at all the wrong timnes too LOL.  and i've not one dom bone in my body unless it deals with children or housework...then i'm deffinately alpha.....any way...back to the movies *S*
I think you're responding to the other thread on a similar subject perhaps? It is a good point, I blame it on the fact that we're still primates, and females are only indirectly involved in alpha politics among primates - it's their job to take care of kids, it's what they're selected for, and males are selected to die in order to protect them both, women and children first you know.

And, of course, nobody act more like a primate than somebody who refuses to believe they are one, even if we've evolved to the pont where we can break the rules now and again if the cause be just.

The hearth and home are typically associated with the feminine, domus is feminine for example.

"V for Vendetta" has a very long scene of torture to set the main characters mind free.  She later learns that it was V the whole time simply enlightening her.

"Doomsday" just came out and has a large number of scenes.  From spanking fishnet clad dancers to a head to toe leather pet enjoying his attention.
