Actually, if I was single and actively searching for a dominant, I would not want to read that they thought they were real or true. I would much prefer them to tell me their character strengths, their values and morals, what type of relationship they are looking for, their view on the lifestyle, etc. Telling me that they think they are real or true doesn't really give me any information about them at all.

kyraofMists, I agree totally with what you say here. As we, on here, do anything from filling out our profiles to chatting on these boards or sending private messages - we are (hopefully) showing others what we are like and what we are all about.

I, personally, do not refer to myself as Real. In part, because I do not have to. You radiate what you are - whether you mean to or not - and I don't find the need to comment on it.

My beef with the "True" or "Real" issue is that in one swift motion, you validate one group while completely invalidating those who do not live up to whatever set of standards. Is someone who is not (or can not be) "True" or "Real" any less of an individual because they don't meet someone's definition?

And, if someone isn't "Real" or "True" ... what are they? Unreal? Fake? False?
I don't think so...

trusub said: If looking for real or true, would you not want someone to state that they at least thought they were true or real in their own minds? In order to have someone be true or real to you, should they not be true or real to themselves?

And I say, as I said before, 10/14/2005 10:24:13 PM: Don't you just love the way so many people try to tell you what a true master (or true sub) is? They are trying to fit others into their own mold and idea of what that is, when it seems to me that the truth is only within ourselves. When we are true to ourselves, our philosophies, our needs, and what *we* determine to be true, then we are that true master or true submissive. What we seek, then, is the true counterpart to what we have become.

And only we... and that other person... can really define what that is.

That being said, doesn't it stand to reason that we BOTH have to believe that the other person is true or real? So even if the other person thinks they are (which many would doubt if they have to state so in their name), what really matters is whether we agree with them? If they think so, and we do not, then in our mind, they ARE not. Only what we believe is true, is true for US.

Make sense?

It's like saying "I'm more real/true than they are, nanner nanner boo boo :P." And isn't collarme for adults?

I think it's best to leave the search for Truth and Reality to the philosophers.
