ORIGINAL: candystripper ...What about you? candystripper I also linger in the area between agnostic and atheism, but lean more toward atheism. I usually jump at the chance to discuss topics like religion and such with others when they seem to want to have a fair and intelligent discussion. Unfair, to me, is when the other party is simply unable to accept the fact that even small or minor details in the religion's teachings could have been manipulated, changed, or skewed in some way by those who influenced the religion over years, even centuries. That, to me, is just unrealistic. Also, when the person brings up a story or event believed to be true within their belief structure and presents it as fact. "Oh, that really happened! Its a fact." with absolutely no evidence to prove it, is about the time when I bow out of the conversation. That such a peeve of mine. Beliefs are beliefs, fact is fact, and if one cannot acknowledge the difference, I'm really not into further discussions on the subject. Aside from situations like the above, I do enjoy having my thinking and beliefs challenged. Just be fair about it or I'll have to smite thee!
