poiznuz -> What is in a name?? (8/13/2008 10:03:02 PM)

I am curious of anyone uses names other than Master, Sir, or Daddy?

I don't mean anything disrespectful to anyone, but sometimes I feel like none of those are enough to describe what my Master makes me feel he is.  I am extremely new to D/s, but to me he is my Everything my whole world, my joy, my pleasure, my desire, my teacher, my friend, my lover, my boss, my mentor, my tour guide (in helping me explore my own body), he is just more to me than anything I have ever known, and I am curious to know if anyone uses other names then the typical? Also, my Master is not into labels and does not require me to call him anything, as long as I am respectful, but I would like to have an idea because someday we will be in public (we do not live in the same state and are learning more of each other before advancing to anything further), and I am afraid I will slip and call him Master in front of the parents which is bad.  So I would love to find a name to call him in and out of the home.

Any response would be appreciated.

I have been in a couple of relationships where I called him my Lord. Other than that it has always been Sir or Master.

I use sir. His family thinks we're joking around when it slips.

twistedEuphoria -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/13/2008 11:57:05 PM)

I call him....-drum roll- Taggard. It's his name. Titles have always made me raise an eyebrow. His name just seems more personal and I like the fact that he's not big into the 'sir' or 'master' thing. When he wants to get the point across he'll usually say something like "Yes, what?" and I'll grumble "Yes, sir" other than that, it's just Taggard.

It's not in the name or the title. It's in the feelings behind it.

It's funny because I am the "pet" and he is the "Owner" but I often call him pet names, love, babe, or his real name, I typically only use Sir when he has addressed me as a dominant, or I wish to address him from a submissive perspective.

sublizzie -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 4:48:03 AM)

My Dominant is the first person I've ever called "Beloved". I also call him Sir and/or Master at times, but those names tend to be rather generic within WIIWD. But no one else has every been called "Beloved" by me. It's special to him, is based on my love and respect for him, and is safe no matter where we are.

softness -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 5:32:56 AM)

I call my Owner Sir, in moments of extreme silliness I might call Him Master ... but its doesn't really fit for us. When He is being a complete pain in my arse I call Him (and always refer to Him to my scene friends) as His Royal Highness. In very tender moments (as in when He needs my softness, and my tender care) I do call Him Daddy.

One name cannot possibly hold all the information about all the things He is to me, single words (even in the greatest language of earth) are not able to do that, its is how you say the word, the tone you use to speak his name .. thats where the meaning *really* is.

Which is why Sir knows that sometimes, even when I am being perfectly polite and pleasing and speaking *exactly* in the protocol He has trained me in ... I am still saying
"fuck you, you bastard, and the horse you rode in on, you can take your stupid pigging cattle prod and stick it right where the sun dont shine!"
even though it sounds like
"Yes Sir, I will do that for you right away, while I do, is there anything else you desire?"

Aileen1968 -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 6:56:19 AM)

I've never felt comfortable calling anyone master, sir, etc.  I usually called them by their first name and that always seemed to work.  Lately, I've been calling him Mr.***** and it seems to fit his personality and he hasn't told me not to.  For some reason, something as small as changing from a first name to Mr. ***** puts me into a different mindset with him.  I never expected that.  It's really pretty silly when I think about it now.

chamberqueen -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 7:25:18 AM)

I have a lot of pet names for my Master which He allows me to use freely.  I may call Him Sweet Cheeks, Handsome, Sweetness, or others.  We have talked about public and then I usually use His name but it wouldn't bother Him at all if I used one of his pet names.  I actually named my kitten after His nickname so I don't normally use that just to avoid confusion.

For public some use generic terms such as Honey, Dear, or something that wouldn't be obvious to others.  I don't know many men that wouldn't enjoy being greeted by, "Hi, Handsome" but it might be awkward during a dinner conversation.  You'll come on something that feels comfortable to both of you.

StormsSlave -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 7:30:48 AM)

Usually, we call each other "love." That's what we are to one another. I am Her Lord's love, he is my love. It's not only an endearment, but a description and title.

In play, and when he's being a dick, he is My Lord.

sub4hire -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 7:31:04 AM)

Heres a thought.  Ask him what he would like you to call him while around others?

It may just work.

DesFIP -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 8:47:30 AM)

Usually Honey or Sweetheart. Occasionally Boss or Captain, that being done with a mock salute. The tinge of irony is enough that no one else thinks anything of it.

I usually call him Sweetheart.  Occasionally I call him Sir.

IvyMorgan -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 9:24:50 AM)

I never used to call them anything at all, what with not being allowed to address them and such.  Clients were called "Sir"though, because it gives anonymity.

I do like "Sir" as a title, it means I don't have to remember his name.  Of course it also gets confusing when trying to compare notes, you wind up with "Sir - with the big nose wierd eyes, and the penis with the abnormal leftward bend" and "Sir with the nipples" and other such titiles.

Have I mentioned you make me smile recently?

I call my "sir" Ben, if I use a name at all.  He calls me all sorts of things.

I tend to avoid all names and titles though.  Titles seem fake and names are often too personal.

Lynnxz -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 9:48:16 AM)

I called him Captain Sexybutt this morning when he showed up to the gym with sleep marks still on his face. [:D]

Does that count?

marieToo -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 10:38:25 AM)

I like "Sir".  And my sir likes it too, in fact, he expects it and demands it.  A while back that would have been a turn off to me, but now I love it.  Using the term Sir makes me feel soft and mushy inside.

Missokyst -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 10:44:23 AM)

My x was honey.  Now that he is mostly my boss in regular life, I think of him as sir (though I never let that slip out).

My Master has always been Master he is not hung up on titles to me it is a natural form of address.   In public i call him Matt which he told me to do but still seem strange. He is so used to me calling him Master when i called hin honey the other day he seemed surprised.  He always call me sweetheart.

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: What is in a name?? (8/14/2008 2:56:09 PM)

For us it really depends on the situation.  I do refer to Him as Master or Sir during play.  He has actually made me say "thank you Daddy" a couple of times, which felt warm, but a bit odd.

I usually call Him by His first name or "my love".

But saying yes Sir or no Sir is pretty much standard in answering Him.

Oh and sometimes He gets called Captain Tightpants. [:)]  (Firefly enthusiasts will know that one!)
