i live in a real world where bills are paid and floors are hand cleaned on hands n knees and dishes are done and bedding is changed and laundry is done............................

Do you honestly think you're alone in that regard?

quote:

i just don't see any of THIS ever mentioned when it comes to people looking for, referring to, asking about relationships and all the hoodoo between s/m and vanilla.
i just wish i could find more real life in posts.

I don't see people mentioning brushing their teeth, making breakfast, having the oil changed in their car, cleaning the pool, putting up weatherstripping, cleaning the gutters, mowing the lawn or a million other activities that take pace on a daily basis. Does that mean these things don't happen? Perhaps people just don't want to discuss at length the daily tasks we all have to do to make life work. If I wanted to read about all of that, I'd be spending time in the HGTV forums, not here.

quote:

i feel it would help a helluvalot when it comes to understanding this lifestyle...vs vanilla. but i guess it's JUST me here.

Maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe you shouldn't be looking at this in a "lifestyle vs. vanilla" mindset. The "lifestyle" is an addition to normal vanilla life, it doesn't replace it unless you're living in a storybook.

quote:

maybe i have removed myself so far away from relationship life that i have no concept of it anymore. all "I" know about is work...work...work.

there is NO such thing as quality time because i have no concept what it means........
but i see SO much fantasy on here it often times leaves me feeling sad about the world.

It's entirely possible that your idea of "fantasy" might be other people's reality. It doesn't make it any less real just because you don't experience it in the station you have chosen.

i have not seen one posting........of anyone ever talking about real life.

why is that?

is real life too difficult of a concept?

i really really worry that people live in a bubble world......

OR
is it JUST my view?
thanks.........for those interested........and if ya aren't........don't be climbing down my throat.....
i don't need it....

I guess that all depends on what you mean by "real". My life is real to me and the experiences I have had are what I draw on to make my posts.

For me, I am in an M/s relationship. It’s not a role that I assume on Friday and Saturday nights down at the local play club. It is what I live every day, every minute and all the mundane things of life fall within the structure of that relationship.

What is your definition of "real"?

One of the refreshing things I have found on this board, that I haven't found too many other places is the number of people who are actually practicing a real life D/s, M/s or BDSM relationship. These are people who actually meet regularly or live together or are actually married. I've seen questions about what to do about kids, living situation in poly group, etc. If that isn't real life, I'm not sure what is. There are some here that are only cybering but there are lots living it for real.

Now if you are looking for vegetarian gourmet receipes, I could give you a ton, but you'd get a better response on a vegetarian website. Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but if you tossed out a question that you considered "real life" my guess is that you'd get a few responses, at least directing you to the right place.

Good luck!

Real life = getting up in the morning, feeding the kids, feeding our significant other ( who ever that may be ), doing the dishes, going to work, coming home, cleaning the house, making dinner, doing the laundry, cleaning up after dinner, getting the kids ready for bed

and then, If you are very lucky........sitting for a couple minutes on the couch with your significant other before going to bed yourselves

Ah, Feline One, you have put my suspicions into words!

I am ever so sorry that our posts continue to not mesh with your universe, Veronica. Perhaps you would like to come over to the Off Topic area, where we spent some scintillating time discussing dyeing embroidery floss! Educational fun, that!

I am sure you could start your own threads on various cleaning products, time management for maids (a helpful notion), winterizing, and all that other stuff you do.

In the meantime, the rest of us will discuss our lives as we wish.

Let's see.

I went to bed at 3 last night, woke up at 8 to get Master ready for work. I went back to sleep until 11, when I woke up with a migraine. I took excedrine, slept until 2 when Master called to wake me up, asked me to polish his resume because he's looking for a new job and call a client for the catering business we run on the side.

Then I used the bathroom and made a frozen pizza from Trader Joe's.

Now I'm posting on CollarMe and AIMing with my friend Marie in Montreal.

Ok. I know TYPING that was boring. Reading it must be twice as bad.

Why would anyone stay in a relationship that is as unfulfilling as the one you claim. If you persist in that circumstance you must enjoy it. "Tis better to light a candle than to curse the darkness".

Well, all that "so called sex stuff and s/m goings on" is a part of my real life. It isn't some fantasy that is only in my head and I have the marks to prove it *g*

Many people live a life that is just fantasy for others, but that doesn't mean that dishes don't have to be done, beds made, bills paid, etc. It just means that the mundane things of life are juggled with fulfilling our intense fantasies of pleasure and pain, Dominance and submission. Besides, those things are much more fun to talk about than the fact that the cat kept getting in the way when I tried to make the bed this morning.

“is it for you?” You asked if real life was too difficult of a concept. So, I asked if it was too difficult for you. Although in your post I believe you answered my question already, so please disregard.
Well when I was seeking a dom I asked those questions. Who would be in charge of what around the household? Although, I have been with my dom now almost 7 year’s. I can’t tell you what it is like searching now. I’d assume about the same.
There are a lot of cyber players out there. Just looking for the kink. No issue with that as long as that is what you are looking for. Is it?

On the board’s here you have to ask those questions. You’d get people like me and many other’s responding the way you’d like. Most people consider the daily chore of life boring. I know I do. I do more in one day than most do in a month.

I do believe in quality time. Quality time to me is when my dom and I have time just to be with each other. No distractions. The weekends are that time for us.
It doesn’t always play out the way we would like it to. Many see us as being reserved though we aren’t in the least. We are just into making our relationship work. So, people don’t see me post during the weekend nearly as much. It is because my life is more important to me than posting.
People ask us to parties and if we didn’t get enough time in the week together we decline.
It is about not answering the phone on the weekend because we want to lounge in bed together. Or get the yard work done. Christmas shopping or whatever life brings us that day.
If you want less fantasy I’d suggest staying out of chat rooms as much. Yes, I know it is a fast and easy way to network and find other’s who happen to be interested in the same thing you are. Although a munch is a much better place to chat. Those people usually are living life rather than talking about it online.
Hope this helped a bit.

There is a metric shitload of posts here about real life. And most of the perennial posters appear to be living it for real. At least, that is my impression. Maybe you are assuming we're talking about online stuff because we don't bother to explicitly state that we're talking about the real thing? I am inclined to do the opposite: clearly indicate if and when I am talking about things that are solely online.

ouch, I do not see that what you posted was of substance and think perhaps you are a truly unhappy individual ... I sincerely hope that your life improves and that you find the happiness that will allow you to see and understand the happiness of others who post about their real life on here

I tried to discuss it with you, as did several others, but you seemed to ignore those posts. You seem to only want to "discuss" things with people who agree with you. That's not really a discussion, is it?

Since you did no good deed, I'm not really sure why you're saying this.

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but this "lifestyle" isn't any more "loving and accepting" than any other. You should have figured that out long ago.

I'm sure numerous people on this site do the dishes every night and mop the floors. Perhaps those things are not really of interest to many people. There have been threads on service oriented submissives/slaves, and if you do a search, I'm sure you will find them.

Your posts in the past have always made it clear how differently you view relationships (and why you view them differently). "Sex" and "s/m goings on" are very real things to many of us, and just because we have those things in our lives doesn't make it "fantasy". It may be fantasy to you, but you are choosing to live your life without those things. If that makes you happy, then stick with it.

Be well,
Julie
