How do I wear my boots? I wear them thigh high.

Forget age....at 40 you should be carrying yourself so much better...you can wear what you chose.

Who cares what fashion dictates....YOU dictate!!

Enjoy your boots.

Ooh, I love them!  What you need to go with them are some slim-fit leggings and a tailored jacket for an equestrian motif.

I am loving all the fashion advice.  I never know what would look best with what, I enjoy second opinions. So keep them coming!!

Come to think of it, those boots would go well with a military-style jacket too.  I'm seeing navy blue with gold/brass buttons.

You know, I usually abhor flats, but those boots are pretty cute, and I can't put my finger on it as to why.

I say go for them -- there's no superchunky heel on them to make them look like Frankenstein shoes, they just look comfortable and very metropolitan.

Does a web site exist where you can click and drag clothing onto a model's body and mix and match outfits and then get zapped or buzzed when you match things that clearly look bad together? :)

I wish!

Those boots, though, would look really cute with a tailored casual jacket (denim or suede) with a simple top underneath and a frilly-ish skirt -- since the boots themselves are somewhat minimalist this is probably a prime time to throw on that splash of "girly" and toss on some cute earrings or attach a shiny pin to the jacket to spruce things up with your accessories.

Unfortunately my graphics tablet died or I'd sketch out some ideas for you.

Edit: I'm starting to think that mortuary sciences is the wrong career field for me... maybe it's time I go from dead to DARLING!

But what about for skirt/leggings/pants? :)

You should be a personal shopper!

It takes a very unique fitted jacket to look good on me, I feel.  I can pull it off with a very nice business suit if I look hard enough. I have a petite frame and big boobs. I don't have broad shoulders.  This makes it a bit of a challenge! :)

my choice with those boots would be a long slim fitting denim skirt with a high slit in the back.

and btw...if you are looking for the equestrain motif you might want to check out Ralph Lauren's web site. He is an awesome designer..

I personally hate the look of pants tucked into/rolled up above boots, but it really is just that -- personal.

Leggings would be cute under an appropriate-length skirt for the fall season.  In my opinion, if you're going to wear knee-high boots, it's pretty much down to skirts with or without leggings.

As for the jacket... I feel your pain, I'm pretty much the same build.  I haven't been able to find a button-down shirt that fits without having to be tailored/altered in... god, I don't even remember how long ago it was.  For a casual/business-casual look with a jacket, find one that goes in at the waist so as to have some sort of structure to it, then leave it unbuttoned.  Something with a bit of blousing up at the top of the sleeve to add feminine detail could also work to your advantage to make your shoulders look a bit wider/proportionate.  Beware of shoulder pads, though, because they can sometimes be *too* much and make you look like a linebacker.

Me shopping though... wooooo, that's dangerous!    Although it sounds like fun.  I also used to have aspirations to start my own clothing line.  In fact, I made my own allowance in high school by selling original clothing pieces/designs on eBay.  Man, those were the days...

Edited to add about the tunic top and leggings: be careful with the loose-fitting top and a large bust.  Since the boobs hold the fabric further away from the body, it can have an unfortunate side effect of making you look pregnant or heavier than you really are, unless it's a tunic-LENGTH top, not one of the ballet-style tunics that have no discernible waistline.

You would be my hero if you linked to an example of a tunic online that I could buy :)  I think I know what you mean...but one can never be too sure!

And that's a problem I find I have - nice tops that fit my cleavage well often don't do justice to my waist because it's small. I'm small boned in general and when I am in good shape, it's nearly impossible to find something that fits close enough, but not "tight", to accent my figure.

Ask and you shall receive!

Here is an example of a *good* tunic-length top.  The scoop neck shows off just a bit of cleavage without being too much, but the fit will show off your waist.  Not saying that the thermal fabric is the only one to go with, but you should get the basic idea regarding the style and construction of the top.

Now here is a bad example.  Note the poofy factor of the top.  That model's probably rocking about a 34B at the most and you can see how it's not clinging to her curves at all.  Of course no way in Hell I'm going to ask a woman her exact size, but I bought a top like that and oh my God it was so full of fail I wore it once and then donated it.  Thanks to the magic of Thelma and Louise up here it looked like I was wearing a circus tent.

If you have a large chest, also be careful with wrap-tops, as they're meant to give the illusion of a larger bust size.

Something you might have success with, though, is a babydoll-style top.  They're usually fitted underneath the bust and then extend down, which means you're not going to get the extreme distention you'd normally get wearing something loose around the waist.
