When young, I was a little annoyed with the "older, wiser" folk who claimed one does not fully comprehend or fully appreciate BDSM until much later on in life; that by my age I was looking more for the surface-deep illusion of things. That couldn't have been farther from the truth, in reality.

No, I do not believe age matters much at all. If you are able to feel, comprehend and understand your desires, you are old enough.

So...I kept starting to write to justify why I'm looking for younger (closer to my 21) (similar experience level, similar periods of life, minimize the up front power differential so that we can create that together) and the reasons it could be better to be with older (opportunity to learn from another's experience, maximize up front power differential, let a more established person protect me) and I got confused by my "logic"...so, I have no idea about age...

I can see that but i personally think that after a certain number of years teh age gap is just to high. I mean i am 21 adn their is no way could have master who was 45 or 50, that woud mean dating someone your parents age.

Hmmmmm.... how to word this so that it doesn't sound like an insult. Because it's not. But there's nothing wrong with dating older men.. or women.

All my life the men I have dated have been 5-20 years older than me. My former Master was 18 years older than me. .... LOL.. My mom said I could come visit her, my dad and my husband in the old folks home.

Age doesn't define a person. Life does. I use to think women were the only ones that dated older men. Till the day I had a 21 year old Marine hit on me and I was 36. I was like.... Whoa buddy!

There use to be (and I think still is, just don't hear it that much) people talking about how men want younger women. Calling them dirty old men, or perverts. Well now that I am hitting the big 40 this year (don't push me to it not till August 2006.. LOL) I have to admit I too like to look at the young Marines in my town. (But then again I think it's the uniform more than the man). But getting back on track here. Age doesn't tell someone anything about you other than you are old enough to vote, or buy booze.

Brad Pitt might be fine to look at, but Sean Connery.,,,,,, whewwwwwwwww

Where as with men I've taken notice to the fact... that all though Halle Berry is fine to drool over... they would still prefer Barbara Bach or Ms Rachel Welch. But there again, age doesn't tell you who has brains, experiance, let alone anything else to offer.

So before knocking the "Parents Age" thing, think about this. When you are 45, your parents age now.. and some hot 21 year old looks at you. Are you going to look the other way, roll your eyes and say... you're young enough to be my child?... or are you at least going to give that slight flirty smile in return... even if it goes no further?

Yeah...but "this" gap isn't the typical one that seems to be the target of concern or conversation.

How about when you're 40 (happy early BD, btw [;)...it really DOES get better]...and you're getting hit on by a 75 year old, great-great grandpa? Is that as attractive and interesting? (Okay, so Sean Connery is probably 75...he's obviously the exception. ) He mentions the war, and you think Iraq or maybe Dessert Storm, and he's acually talking about Korea, or worst yet WWII.

The older person won't have issue with the younger attraction, but reverse the situation around a bit, and look at someone that is already "older"...and it can really matter (for many of us). That "gap" lengthens with age, as I see it. When you're "young"...it probably "doesn't" matter much.

Point taken.... and under consideration. But while doing this. I think this still would fall under the category of how well one takes care of themselves too. Lets face it, Sean Connery took damn good care of himself to look so good at no matter what age he is. Where some men his age look like the walking dead now. Sophia Lorene... Gorgous Gal... not looking nowhere near 70ish. But people with money and good doctors that do the nip and tucks get the benifits. So I guess it's all in how you want to look at it.

Its All about balance. and experince age does matter for alot of reasons. you can play like it does not matter but in reality it does. in comcputers everything comes to a 0 or 1 fact yes or no everything has stablity and most people are stable at different ages a 20 year old and forty year old are not stable partners heres why our need for growth at an early age changes as we grow older. lifeslessons change i mean really change wither it be collage ofr finciale or even medical or family we all change resposiblity to do the right things change yes and no its very simple really just take a look

I feel age should not manner but in our area there is a college group who are about education and open to every one. There was some strife and between the older lifestyles and the young one so they broke off into their own group. I was far more mature when I was your age but was into bondage too. I have dated older women and now seeking younger women. The only way to change people perceptions is attend events and learn from every one. You will come across older women who enjoy younger men. When they see were your skills are they will be welling to take the time to get know you. The key to every thing is attend every events and local groups so you can learn and grow. Watch and observe those who do scenes and when they are finish approach them and ask them question. I have talked with allot of young ladies who are seeking some one close to their age so you will find the right person. Let your actions show every one how good of a Master you are and remember this the education never stops until the day you are put to rest. One more thing I been attending functions locally since 1999 and it has taken them that long to see me as a Master. Actions well tell every one who you are and how you play. Public play also will allow people see how you play and how safe you are. The sub and slave needs to feel safe and secure when they play. Good luck. Hoosier Scorpio

Older people fear youth. That's the way it is.

No older Dom who gives a young Dom a snide comment is ever concerned for the safety of the submissives rather than the security of his own station within the pride. Women tend to want the older father-figure, so that's going to be one of your biggest obstacles against you. -

Really? And what exactly is it about youth we fear?

So to me personally it is all about the persons maturity much, much more so then age.

You got it. Maturity has no age limitation just like being educated doesn't necessarily make you smart. Give me a mature, smart and funny submissive any day of the week (including weekends!) regardless of her physical age.

Personally for me, I'm not sure I could have a LTR with someone younger than my daughter (41). If I did it would have to be with someone that is mature beyond their years for sure. The younger people seem to be more hung up on the wrapping that what is in the package. As we get older, the body changes and much of it has to do with health problems but a lot has to do with genetics. So we all aren't going to look like Sean Connery. I have been with someone 17 years younger than me and with someone 10 years older than me. While I prefer the younger, it mainly depends on the person. Age shouldn't matter but we all have our own expectations and must make our own choices.
