Hi all, I am an Irish Dom, new to the site and finding it fantastic. However, one thing I have nioticed (mainly from the Irish subs) is that their introductions in their profiles would scare the life out of ya!! LOL. They seem to portray this" Don't come near me or I will turn Domme and beat your ass!!" thing, which is hardly very submissive. Ant comments?

"submissive behavior" is not the same as "willing to be submissive to someone, once a relationship is established".
 
perhaps you are confusing the two.

Yes, I understand the point you are making, but some of the profiles state things like - Dont Message me! Dont mail me!! etc.
How is one supposed to break the ice in this case?  I have spoken to a few fine ladies by the way who have been very friendly and welcoming, so if is not everyone I refer to. Some simply seem quite unapprochable though. :)

Um, you could always do what folks in the United States call "move on to the next profile."

They're doing you a favor, by ensuring you don't waste precious time.  Wouldn't you rather see a profile like that instead of  a profile that says, "Please all Irish masters, write me a long long letter," created by someone who has no intention of responding to you?  Are you just here to peruse hot pics, or do you actually want to meet people?  If it's the latter, you're being helped, not hindered.

I glanced through some Irish profiles and didn't see a large number of "don't" types.  Keep in mind that while these profiles might not sound submissive, it probably stems from having to sort through massive amounts of mail from trolls on a daily basis.

the ones that say don't are in it for other reasons than finding their dom/me. be it the forums, friends, chat rooms, whatever. If they're looking they might be looking in the forums to see what you say what kind of metal are you then they look at your profile. direct contact/e-mail probably not a good idea, due to blind-disrespecting but maybe not, she might want to be violated that way, IDK, I would go to the next profile, it aint worth my time!

  There are profiles on here that get dozens of letters a day from men who don't read what the woman is looking for. Unfortunately, the only way to get the point across to some of these me is to write in huge, ANGRY letters at the top of the profile that, "I'M NOT LOOKING FOR MEN THAT DON'T FIT MY REQUIREMENTS!!!" Of course, some of these women are attached as well, so they shorten it to simply, "Not looking."

i'm irish and i have a profile just like the one you described, yet, there is nothing weird about scaring off those 'less than' or in the 'non-qualifying' category, or at least not for me. the best thing is, it spares me the 'agony' of having to hear from those i don't 'choose' to hear from in any context!  sooooooooo, you can blame it on me for being irish; or blame it on me for being a red-head, or, a more realistic approach would be, blaming it on me because i don't want to hear from certain 'shits'[sm=violin.gif]

Ok ok - I get the point now, and I appreciate the explaination. As I mentioned, I am new to the site and simply found it a bit disconcerting. I am far from a troller and do understand that many receive many mails, few of which are overly welcome.
As they say, we never stop learning, and the only way to learn is to ask (as I have done).
I already have a loving D/s relationship and am simply here to make friends. Some of the profiles looked less than friendly. :)
Anyway - dont shoot me (it hurts) - trust I still have a few friends left? :)

For the record, I am neither a "shit" nor a troller - just a new kid in town trying his best to understand how things work.

Perhaps they dont wish to be approached?
Maybe they have attachments elsewhere and are only here for forums or what ever else this site offers.  Or maybe they are burned out and don't desire dealing with random strangers? 
Could be anything.
All I know is they have that right.  My advice is move on to more amiable targets.  Why bother with one or 10 who choose to limit contact?

I tend to just whiz past that part.  If there's something which explains what she IS looking for, I focus on that.  Else I figure she's just a whiner who focuses on things to complain about rather than the positive of what she wants, and I pass her by.

I would say it wasn't an irish submissive thang, you get them in all sections of profiles to an extent.
And hang around the forums a while and you will get a 'grip' on Leatherists' sense of 'humour'.[;)]

Hey Ed,

Your best bet to find folks to talk to... is actualy here on the boards. Just be Yourself, pitch in, give Your opinion... You'll soon start finding a few You are on a similar wavelength too.

You do need a relitivly thick skin though, it is 'robust' on here at times and there are a number of trolls and cliques but they are easy to ignore... it is only pixels on a screen. Not everyone You will get grief off is either of those though, most will simply be personality clashes and differences of opinion with very strong minded folks from ALL sides of the '/'.

Just don't make the mistake of thinking any sub is going to do the yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir routeen to You simply because You call Yourself 'Dom'. They maybe sub or slave to the person they have submitted to but that doesn't mean they are not strong enough to rip You a new fundamental orafice if You get on their wrong side when You are not the person they are in submission to. *g*

On reflection, perhaps I worded my opening comment incorrectly. It actually should have been more questioning than direct. To anyone offended, sorry. But to all of you, thanks for the welcome and am looking forward to more discussion and chat.
