Okay, so my lovely precious Dom is pretty sick. His symptoms, well, he sounds like he's got morning sickness, but obviously that's not possible. When he wakes up he feels awful and has a hard time eating anything. Sometimes he can eat later in the day, but mostly he feels nauseous all the time and can't really eat well. Pretty much it's vaguely constant nausea that comes and goes throughout the day. It has gotten worse recently and he's down to 130lbs. He was 160lbs in January, but he lost some muscle mass over the summer as well (and winter fat). I would say he usually is 145lbs and has lost about 15lbs in a few months. It's making me really worried because the doctors aren't sure what is wrong. Do any of you know? Right now the consensus is staph, but I'm not really convinced. Help?!

Has he been to the doctor?  If so, what type of doctor and what tests have been done? 
 
P.S.  Is he taking any medications?

Could be alot of things. I know several people with varying illnesses that suffered similarly before being diagnosed.

One was an infection
One was crohns
One was cancer
One was colitis

Or, he is pregnant.

He just needs to keep seeing the doctors until they figure it out.

It sounds like a staph infection, be careful, if it is staph disinfect everything, hibiclens soap, and Get  antibiotics  I was down to 115 from 135... still recovering from MRSA it is not a pleasant experience in the least...( I unfortunately had to live with MRSA in my lymphatic system for several months... Till I could afford the Antibiotics... When you/he sees a doctor, insist on a Bacteria culture...

Nausea can be a symptom of something as mild as hypoglycemia or as serious as liver cancer.  If the doctors don't know what's wrong after examining him, we certainly aren't going to be able to diagnose him over a message board.  Get a second opinion, ask for more tests.  If that doc can't figure it out, get a third, fourth, or tenth opinion.

have them check to see if it is sarcoidosis and a side effect for sudden loss of wt

if u need some info on contacting someone near u let me know as i have a list of people who know about sarcoidosis

take it from me it is not a very nice disease and should be looked at hopefully it is not but contact me with a message and i will give u the link

We can speculate forever, I would have his blood glucose checked, could be diabetes.  Sudden weight loss is serious though and definitely serious enough to keep looking for an answer from a professional.

I don't know but keep having him checked and such. One of my co-workers had a similar situation with her husband. He lost 30 lbs in a month and sounds very similar. He ended up in a hospital and they still are not sure. They put him on the strongest antibiotic available. They checked for West Nile, MRSA, Pnemunia and a host of other things and last I knew they still don't know for sure what he had. He is home and slowly recovering and the doctor told her will be six months to a year before he will probably be feeling fine. Ask them to check everything and anything. Best of luck to you in getting him well.

Change clinics, change doctors, keep yelling for help. Unfortunately our health care system is so overwhelmed until someone stops and pays close attention to his symptoms, you will only get bandaid treatment.

Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease and House is only a TV show. BUT, you need a doc that takes an interest in your case and is willing to diagnose the problem not just treat the symptoms. Call around and ask for referrals--who listens, who pays attention, who gives their patients more than fifteen minutes of their time?

You have to be his advocate so start making calls. Good Luck.

Just another speculation, here.

Is it just nausea, or might there be also diarrhea?

Have any checked him for Guardiasis? (a common parasitic infection)

I have to agree that you both need to keep going until you have found an answer.  It doesn't matter what course you have to take to get there.  I am sorry to not have any particular diagnosis to offer, but it is more important that you get THE diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

I had symptoms similar...was appendicitis-it took them 14 months before they believed me when i said i thought it was my appendix.

You know, when I have a grave medical condition, I come right to a BDSM message board for advice.  Persistant nausea is a symptom for oh - about 59,014 syndromes, diseases and conditions.  I am going to go out on a limb and say he should stop eating ground glass, and get treated for distemper.

It would appear, that the presumed 'professionals' in this situation, have been somewhat less than... competent, in this matter.

As in, clueless. Ya, just MNSHO there, of course.

The OP who has come to this forum seeking assistance, in this context, is perhaps misguided, but hardly deserving of scorn.

  It sounds like the very serious Dominant Disease. It's a rare and deadly disease only caught by dominant type people (thus can only be diagnosed by those "in the know").

  Seriously, though, see a doctor. None of us here are doctors, and even if one of us was, they'd know better than to try and diagnose without actually seeing the patient.
