Status: offline 		Three things in the article stood out, here are some points I haven't heard from other posters. 1) None of the couples were married to each other,were they in some way commited to each other...it failed to say for sure.  so I question their intentions with each other, JUST How well did the man and woman know each other for how long?
Having someone new in the bed is always stressful and or an adjustment. 
You don't get adjusted to someone in 10 days, or maybe not even a few months. After a year or more, you get to knowing where they'll be, how they prefer sleeping and so very much more. 
Just being committed to each other and knowing that how you sleep, if you snore, and any bad habits that might "disturb" the way we sleep Don't matter, would relax and reassure one to an extent.

Secondly, is the quote and someone did play on this, "Historically, we have never been meant to sleep in the same bed as each other. It is a bizarre thing to do." Urm, historically we all slept in one tent (tee-pee) Or maybe mudhouse. On the floor, and probably in much bigger piles... So what/whose history was he digging into?   Whoops people have mentioned I love Lucy, and Leave it to Beaver; as examples of not sleeping in the same bed. Would and did couples back then? Yes... I think you'll find they did and would have. BUT in the 40's, 50's and sometimes even 60's Sex was a taboo thing to think about, suggest, or air on television. So TV couples were made to sleep in two seperate beds. 

I'm thinking being part of the study and being attached to these devices would be more disturbing and uncomfortable than the fact that they are sleeping with someone else in bed with them.

This study is unconclusive, and seemingly unscientific; There is just not enough data for the 'suggestion' being made to really be supported or denied. The Demography of the test subjects, is not random enough. The tests themselves are not reproducible from where I stand.. . but that could be the article and not the researcher's fault. Still you can't sum anything up from studying one age group unless the study is only for couples in their twenties; and then any published results must needs specify that.

So those are my thoughts.

I think living arrangements for sub/slaves and their Master/Doms are and should be, based on the needs, and wants of each individual D/s coupling. It is not for others to tell us how we are most comfortable sleeping it is for each individual to decide for themselves.

Well then, she should sleep on the floor, chained to the bedpost, with a leash just long enough to bring her into the bed in the morning, when I'm all rested & my brain is functioning again. :)

Status: offline 		The study had a sample WAY too small to get any significant data from, there is no scientifically significant data in the article. Although it is an interesting question.

As for my own opinions, I really enjoy making a sub sleep on the floor while I sleep on the bed. I especially like to enter a room that she thought of as "hers," such as the bedroom in an apartment she had before she met me. Then I force her to sleep on the floor of bedroom, while I sleep in the bed that she usually slept in. It's a great way to symbolize that "her room" doesn't belong to her anymore. I love symbolism.

I give her a sleeping bag, which actually makes it better for me, because it subtly makes the event feel more real. She realizes that what had been her own bed is now off limits to her, and it also makes the familiar room she used to sleep in seem foreign and alien, because she's camping out on the floor. I mix it up, sometimes I let her sleep on the bed, sometimes not. Very fun, especially if she's not used to it. I enjoy subtle exercises like that, (of course I enjoy some not so subtly, crazy kinky sex stuff too, lol)

Status: offline 		Yes, yes, yes... you might lose some brain capacity... but what's the alternative? Having a sub (or two) is a great alternative to the expense of an electric blanket! They generate wonderful slavish BTU's on cold evenings. And with the cost of heating going up this winter, I'm going to look on them as a "green" alternative.

Status: offline 		i have insomnia, and get up to avoid bothering TheEngineer as he sleeps.

he then wakes up and hunts me down to bring me back to bed.

where do you think i should sleep?    he's the hairy furnace in the relationship....no covers no clothes and he's comfy, i get ALLLLLLLL the covers cause he tosses them on me then tucks me in.  (good thing too, cause i get cold!)

funny thing is, he's been sleeping alone for some years, and MUCH prefers sleeping with someone.  and i cant see any sort of brain loss...tonight's dinner conversation was the corialis effect and why northern climes dont get cyclonic storms, why punitive damages hurt some victims in the long run (civil cases with monetary damages), how much storm damage was had at his office space, and what do we want at the grocery store.  its GOOD being with a smart dominant!!  (and not just a smart-assed one!)

Awww, holly, that is so lovely!.

As for this "study", where is the research data that backs up the claim?.  Until I see that part of things, I am not taking the story seriously, at all.

On Master's "weekend" (Tuesday through Thursday) we sleep together in the bed.  The rest of the time, his job demands that he sleeps in a separate bed in the room next door.

I *live* for the "weekends", I miss him too badly during his work week.

I sleep better alone...it took about 6 months of weekends before I could get any good sleep with someone in my bed (he snored a lot, too).  I'd get about 4 hours max.  Perhaps it's because I've not had many bedpartners.
