My first parashute jump resulted in me (according to witnesses on the ground) turning the air blue and not repeating myself... Wonderfull what you can do when you are scared shittless and have nothing to do but comment about the ancestory of your commanding officer and the jump master,,,,,, Normally I'm more circumspect about what I say and how I say it, but I'm known to utter several basic Anglo Saxon words in a parade ground voice when I hurt myself accidently. It's also interesing just how inventive I can become if I am really annoyed/angry at some fool. (They usually learn about their ancestoral lines with many references to various forms of non human life forms too, or their relationship to varying forms of toilet based articals.)

Personally I'd not use it if they did because I prefer to use mine which is set to Australian English. But for some it would be an advantage especially if they are too busy/lazy to use word and cut/paste to the forum. I always have a word page open when I'm in any forum on any site.

Thanks candystripper for the good wishes on my collar comment.
The replies have been very interesting and ive enjoyed reading them all. The actual post that made me cross was from some guy calling another Dom a C**t etc and thats what I felt was uncalled for. Like I said tho im no prude and everyone has a right to their own opinions and views on everything and one of the things I love about this Lifestyle is that it is on the whole far more accepting of others than the vanilla world. I went to the BBB for the first time the other week with my Master and that was so evident there. There were people with all sorts of fetishes and the atmosphere was so friendly it was a pleasure to be there amongst such wonderful people.

That's great that you had that experience. But trust me, people in bdsm or "the lifestyle" in general are just as badly judgemental, just as exclusive and just as closed to others as vanillas are.

As far as the language issue goes- it's a tool. Shaping ideas into words is a hard process. The more words at your disposal, the bigger your toolbox. Sometimes a harsh word strikes to the heart of the matter and sometimes a soft touch is better suited. Whether you are using tools appropriately will be evident in how well ideas are communicated.

One of my favourite expressions is 'bloody hell', which can express anything from mild annoyance to absolute, unbearable horror.

I have heard (but I don't know how true this is) that it is actually a contraction of the phrase 'By our Lady'.

Firefly gives some excellent alternatives to common swear words:

Gorram (a perversion of goddamn)
Gosse (shit) pronounced "go-sah"
Humped (fucked)
Rutting (fucking)
Pigu (ass)

And a variety of other Chinese slang swear terms that are excellent effective when English words don't do the trick.

I was just thinking, the other day, how I thought posts, on this site, did NOT have much profanity in them. [:)] I've not noticed much at all myself, or perhaps I'm immune to it, but find most people able to express themselves with out profanity. I think there's a place for some good, and "bad" words, and hope never to see them used against someone personally, but rather to vent, or emphasize.

I think the moderators do a bit too much censoring sometimes, and yet you don't see it all.

I'm really a prude too! [;)]

I just love it, we can post how much we love to take or insert things things up the arse, or to make them suck you lick or suck you dry, but, its offensive to post a few expletives here and there. this place is such a hoot.

I'm guilty of using one or two colorful terms on this site once and a while, but you know, in my everyday life, I was knicked named "The Lady". It's rare you'd ever here me swear outside the internet, or erotic moments.

No lass Bloody is used alone just as any sware word. It is a mild word and is more accepted than it was when I was a child. It is an adjective not a noun.

An Aussie may indeed say: "C'm 'ere georgious I'm going to bloody well fuck you till you can't stand."

That was funny and insightful. Lemme just say, cursing is different for women than Men. It can be much more shocking, and therefore, much more effective.

Funny story:

i was assigned to represent the Bureau of Administrative Supervision. They dealt with insurance companies on the brink of liquidation, trying to return them to financial health. They also had approval power over operations, such as any check in excess of $5,000.

When i first met with them, i was informed that it was their policy to do nothing and approve all requests for large checks automatically.

i looked at the 6 or 7 men in the room and said :

"Well, how much longer do you plan to continue this circlej**k?"

They were so shocked they could barely speak; complaints about my language led to the question why i was cursing at them, and made the front office aware of their do-nothing behavior. That was the end of their free ride; after that they were worked like dogs to help prepare business plans, examine check requests, etc.

Oh -- I was wondering what you were complaining about in the OP because I missed that one post. Sure that is uncalled for; however it is equally uncalled for to start a thread which exaggerates a single instance of something you don't like and make it seem like a widespread problem when it isn't. Frankly, I find that far more annoying than someone making an ass of himself with the insults.
