I was just reading some posts on the message boards here and it amazes me how the site allows swearing and insults to others like it does. Dont get me wrong im no prude and I use bad language myself often.. slap my wrist.. but dont feel the need for it in a public message board and I also think it is not the right place to insult individuals either.
It seems very ironic that the site will not allow me to have a pic of my neck showing my necklace as my Consideration Collar but anything seems to go on the message boards with no censoring at all.

i respectfully disagree with you that there is a HIGH degree of curse words on the boards. However, i admit it happens...i myself just used "bulls**t" in a post.

Believe me, the boards are well-run. If you post a direct insult to another member, you are very likely to get warned or even put on moderation. i do not know for certain, but i beleieve the worst offenders can lose their priviledges to post altogether, probably for a period of time.

Status: offline 		If a profanity is thrown in now and then so what? It is not like writing graffiti on the walls. After all this is an adult BDSM site and you wouldn't let kids read this stuff.

i am sometimes just stumped at the prissiness of some BDMS'ers. (No offense to the Op.) i used to spend time in the Lobby -- the main chat room -- and sometimes i'd get called on behaving "badly" by being seductive. i mean, wtf, BDMS'ers cannot abide a discussion of sex?

some posters are eloquent with their words ... others have a very limited vocabulary. some have boundless patience and compassion ... while others participate simply for the attention and drama. some display high levels of knowledge and intelligence ... others clearly lack.

personally, i like knowing who i'm dealing with.

Status: offline 		sunshine333, if it is your contention that members who use curse words have a limited vocabulary or are otherwise lesser, i disagree. Individuals have different habits/attitudes/usage of curse words. My language was just fine in NY but considered shocking in the deep south.

The fact is, i grew up with a large and frequent usage of myriad curse words. i even knew how to curse in 5 or 5 different languages. The habit of using curse words has been a problem for me, as my professional life was spent in the deep south, but IMO, sometimes a curse word perfectly captures what one means.

i am a little sensitive to blasphemy; you will sometimes see my write "Gawd" because "God" would kinda creep me out.

Apart from that i could care less what curse words members use.

Status: offline 		Sometimes too the odd profane or "naughty" word is a part of a normal colloquial and more "colourfull" expressions such as "Stone the B****y crows" I also note that with a number of nationalities posting here, that what is concidered obscene in one country or culture is accepted in another. Much the same as spelling and grammar.

I know one woman who likes to consider herself "edgey" yet at a party she was mortified and looked like she was hoping the floor would open up and swallow her whole because, according to her, "The play is so sexual." I was stumped. I didn't see any overly sexual play. I saw lots of flesh. I saw lots of play. Some kissing. A play party does have a sexually charged atmosphere (that's half the fun) but the play was not really all that sexual yet she blanched at what she saw. Some of the biggest prudes I've ever met are in the BDSM community.

Status: offline 		no, candy, that is not at all what i meant ... as i put myself in the catagory of someone with limited vocabulary. ... grins ... my true colors, in regard to that, would be my simplicity and lack of formal eduation.

my post was a very generalized reply to the OP's wishing for more censorship. i think that would only serve to disguise people's genuine personality. i believe we write as we speak .. and speak as we think .. and think as we are. again ... i'd much rather know who i'm dealing with than read a bunch of superficial posts.

Actually, I believe it comes from the curse "God's Blood" which for clerics was blasphemous rather than obscene.

Status: offline 		I had a wonderful education in the value and risks of swearing when I was a Marine officer candidate. I was raised to moderate my language so I took a bit of kidding about it in the early days of training. Then I was given cadet sgt stripes (part of a regular cycle to see how the candidates handled authority). I walked into the barracks with my new stripes and saw that it was a pig sty (Marine for "you probably couldn't do open heart surgery on the floor"). Well I cut loose with a string of swear words. The other cadets looked around casually and then realizing it was me who was swearing, jumped to and started cleaning up.

Well, I had discovered a new toy and for the next week I was the foulest mouth in the Corp.

Then, I realized that the "Oh my God it's Warren swearing" had disappeared and people were taking the words casually again.

I had made a rookie mistake... empting the magazine at the first target.

Now I save the swearing for when I really really want to make a point.

I agree with both postings here. another "here's your sign" situation.

I have been known to cuss someone out royally, never even having said the word damn. And it's fun to sit there and see the look on their face, trying to figure out what had jsut happened.
