nursygirl -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 7:38:26 AM)

MRE's? Isn't that mean?

GreedyTop -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 7:46:36 AM)

Aylee...perfect idea! There are some MREs that I love.. the lasagna is actually really yummy

Aylee -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 7:54:29 AM)

Actually the MRE's are not so bad anymore.  And they have the new cool ones that are in trays that you only have to put some water on the heater.

sirsholly -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 7:59:53 AM)

Cooking is not rocket science. I'm willing to bet that holly , gifted smart country girl that she seems to be, is a more credible cook than certain "virgins" are as vituous as they claim to be.

holly, don't forget my invitation to your next bbq extravaganza.I wanna see who falls in da pond next.

And they are a darned site easier to carry and use then there direct ancestor (C-rations). And the best part is you don't need a p-38 anymore. BTW; I don't mean the 9mm semi-suto P-38, I mean the fold up can opener.[sm=2cents.gif]

Although I did miss the 4 packs of cigarettes we used to get in the C's as they were OUTSTANDING trading material.

Well the Crats were good for what they were. And your not the first person griping about the fact that they dont give out smokes with them anymore.

Aylee -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 8:31:39 AM)

Yeah.  Now they give you two pieces of chiclets.  Oye vey!

Torturing people is okay (and I have no problem with that) but we do not want anyone SMOKING!

scifi1133 -> RE: Cooking lessons 101 for SirsHolly (9/18/2008 8:33:42 AM)

Ha! jokes on them we all did. And lets be honest if you didnt smokes were still a great way to make money in the field. Someone never brought enough lol.

UGH!  The MRE's I had when I was in were GROSS!!!!!  I remember going to play at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin.....the only time I ever opened one up, it was all moldy and rotten!!!!!  After that, it was NOTHING but pogey bait in the field.....I had a 48 quart cooler, sterno cookers, even a few p-38's, cuz we had real canned food in the field......hell, our CO used to do the pogey bait runs when he went into the garrison for meetings.  (for all you non-military folks, pogey bait is what they called "off limits" food.....when in the field, one was to rely on MRE's!  [:'(])  My in laws had a dog that would eat literally ANYTHING......Scruffy wouldn't touch MRE's....therefore, neither did I!  Personally, I loved the old C-rats, well everything but the scrambeld eggs and ham, and the beans......the drill sgts used to think it was fun to open the box upside down, so no one could see what they were getting......I learned real quick the lay out of the box when packed......never got the gross ones!  But the chocolate crispy candy bars were good!  And the peanut butter......ahhhh, memories!

I can't believe that people eat those things willingly!  [:'(]

BTW, guys, they now make can openers that don't leave sharp edges, so as long as we get one for Holly, she should be okay..........but there's always the box mixes for things!  Hamburger helper should be pretty safe......oh wait...that's involving the stove....um, well, hmmmmm.....does Domino's deliver to the boondocks???
