I am sure your Lord will discuss this with you when the time comes.

You really think so?   You think God has so much spare time on his hands that he is sitting up in heaven right now looking down at our post on CM and saying....  "Peter,  make sure we give RealSub58 a good spanking for that one"?

Uunless you siffer from asthma of the foot they are not going to be much use.
If you don't see a doctor, you might not have a foot to worry about.

I do have arthritis in my knee joints... could that be related?

That depends on the cause of the arthritis. It might. It might not. There are at a rough guess about eighty different causes of arthritis. Your foot problem might have another cause.
Is arthritis your only recurrent or chronic disease?

Did you eat large quantities of a particular kind of food the previous evening / day?

What I 'think' matters not one iota.  If one believes in god or follows scirpture, then one would know what will occur according to the doctine one follows.

If you read, believe & follow scripture, then yes - that is what is written and that is what will be believed.
Although, I doubt a spanking would be the order, if a person enjoys such an activity.

Other than asthma, no, it's the only one.

I didn't eat anything that I don't normally eat, and I didn't eat anything in large quantities in the past few days either except for some pizza

Are you using glucosamine chondroitin for the arthritis? I googled a little bit and found this article that states that the supplement exacerbates asthma.

If so, you might consider to stop taking the supplement. Arthritis is no fun, but arthritis and asthma is even less fun, I suspect.

This is Darcy

I thought God was supposed to be omnipresent? Therefore he effectively has an infinite amount of time, spare or otherwise, no?

Oh see now you shouldn't have said that....

Do me a favor,  next time you speak to your god,  be sure to ask with so much time on his hand, you know since he has that infinite amount of time.     Why is it we live in a world where 11 year old kids die of Cancer?   Why are their people through out this world who don't have enough food to eat and are forced to sell one child to save another?     Why are cruel and evil world leaders allowed to stay in power while good loving innocent people are killed in violent crimes?    Why does your god allow so many people to run around this world killing their neighbors all in the name of religion,  in the name of god?

Yeah thanks for reinforcing the fact that God has an infinite amount of time on his hands....  I can see he's been using it wisely.

Jax, it's because of free will.
Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_Bad_Things_Happen_to_Good_People, then read the book.

OP, I'd suggest a spider bite. If the antihistamine and ice doesn't start to work shortly, get thee to the ER.

And here I assumed the reference to her lord was referring to her dom.

nurses can be held liable for any misinformation they may give out to anyone.  yes, the good samaritan act covers us, but, even that would not save our hides, or licenses, from giving out wrong information.  i read all the responses, ran through my mind what could possibly be wrong...

all i can say is.. see your Dr... we dont have enough infomrtaion to make even a shakey diagnosis as to what may be wrong.  my worry would be telling you to do something, then finding out later what i told you to do has caused you more harm then good.

a bite, proken bone, gout, poor circulation, diabetes.... it could be a number of things

ice .. a good suggestion... reduce the swelling... i have seen skin split due to an increase in fluid, though, i would worry about cooling down the area too much
elevation... always good with swelling.. and about as noninvasive as you can get
it could have been simply because you may have been sitting for a long time playing DnD, and your circulation wasnt able to catch up

i could go into alot of possible causes... none of which would be correct if i didnt take a thorough history, did an actual exam, possibly a few tests as well
i understand your concern... but.. honestly... if an area is affected that badly to the point of swelling and lose of nerve conduction... the ER is truly the best place for you

You are mistaken.
But it is funny.
You are saying that to a person who doesn't have 'a god' persay.  Darcy was being ironic back at your question.  He isn't a christian and if you had been here long enough you would have read his postings and understand that.  Funny, because he often makes the same remarks you just have on bad things happening to 'good' people.

So before you assume who has a god and who hasn't and to whom either Darcy or I 'speak' to - why not ask first instead of second guessing someone ?
The original post was made by me(not a christian), not Darcy(also not a christian) -  to another person who is an evangelical - based on christian doctrine.

Being that I am new to these forums there is no way I'm going to be able to understand what the heck you are talking about.  To me a profile = a person.   If multiple people share a profile well, I'll just respond and you guys can sort it out.

But if I did read this profile right your telling me you really didn't believe what was being posted, but just trying to push another users buttons?

Either way I am now officially too confused to continue this :)

Actually my arthritis is relatively unmedicated. I have special pain pills to take when it's unbearable, but they knock me out to the point that I'm gone for, like, two days... so I don't take them. I don't even know where/what they are. If it gets really bad I'll take some acetaminophen or similar, but otherwise I don't do the medications. I figure that they won't make it go away, so I might as well just live with it rather than adding extra things to my body.

Thanks for all the help everyone. :) I realize that my post was sufficiently vague in what I was asking for... I was trying to ask for advice as to what to do in the mean time, and how long was 'too long' for my foot to be swollen and in such pain. I knew that I was going to go see a doctor, I just wanted others' opinions (and as you can guess, most of my friends were asleep) and mayhap advice for how to deal with the pain and swelling.

Specifically I wanted to know if I should go to the ER, and at what point. The issue of what it could be was secondary.

The doc managed to see me today for a quick (15 minute) exam and didn't find anything overtly wrong, but needs to see me for a real appointment (i.e. tests and such... I was too busy for anything longer than a half hour) later. Luckily the pain's completely gone now, as is the swelling and redness, though I'm watching it closely.

Thanks again for the help :)
