I'd say the only thing that's good about them is that I now get to enjoy them from a long distance.

A northern winter is good because the grass doesn't need to be mowed and the garden doesn't need weeding.

Snowdays from school!!!!!!!!!!!
Going sledding followed by hot chocolate.
Snowball fights
Catching snowflakes on your tongue
The quietness of the forest when it's covered in snow
I woke up this morning to just a few inches of snow...just enough to cover everything and it is gorgeous! I'll be taking my camera out and try to get some pics for my album.

Best thing about a northern winter is being able to call people I know after a snow storm from the beach and let them listen to the surf.

Downside of being able to do that?..... calling them during a hurricane and telling them we are all gonna die!!!

Where is my damn ice scraper?
Here's what I predict....I will buy a new (bigger & better) one.
And then I will find the old one, somewhere in the garage.
arghhhh

You people are just mean.

I remember the days of phoning friends from Florida and giving weather reports can't wait for thoses days to be part of my life onces again. So, the only good thing I have to say is the only good things about northern winters is being so chilled to the bone that I can only focus on planning for my not soon enough trip and hopefully soon move to Florida.

I like the variety of having seasons change and wearing sweaters
And having to get some outdoor projects done before the winter because otherwise I'd procrastinate
And going out in the crisp cold air and getting warm from exercise like xc skiing or even shoveling snow
And after a good snowstorm dumping 2 or more feet -- cat tossing! *poof* they don't seem to think it is very much fun though.

Since I live in a loft, I don't have a yard to take care of. I actually have more manual labour in the winter, shovelling the landing and de-icing the steps.

I have to be honest though, there are many things that I love about winter...

Alpine skiing
Tobogganing
Making snow angels
Building a snow fortress (ah to be a kid again!)
Snow ball fights
Turtleneck sweaters
Warming up by a fire place with a nice cognac…

I guess I’ll always be a northern girl. I have snow in my veins!

Tobogganing!! I haven't done that in years. I was watching the joy of CBC sports yesterday and was enchanted by the bobsledders.......

Enchanted, that is, IN MY NICE WARM ROOM.

It snowed here today. Not enough to get into my favorite activity....cross county skiing. After completing a nice long distance out, communing with nature, there's nothing like getting back into a nice warm house, getting into bed with a nice warm person and........ well, you guys can all guess the rest.

Talk about an endorphin high!!!!
