I've read SOOO many profiles here that say "I'm a Dominate" - IT'S DominANT. "Dominate" is a verb - which means an action - something you do. Rant over - thank you for reading. <grin>

Welcome to the barely literate world of the internet... where being able to spell your name is less important than having sufficient funds to purchase a computer and some sort of ISP, typing skill is strictly optional, and spelling is a virtually unknown art form.

I know of a Domme, who refers to herself as dominate, not dominant.

Personally, I like that mistake. Gives me a clue right off the bat how well read they are.

So they can't spell...or put 3 words together in an intelligent sentence. Does that make them less of a Dom or Domme? No, it just means they are stupid.

If someone is truely Stupid (uneducatable, or unwilling to become educated given the opportunity to do so) - are they dominant, or simply a lazy bully looking for a convenient victim?

I'm also bothered by Dommes who pronounce it as "Dom-may." The "me" in Domme is silent. It's there only to indicate the sex of the dominant in the written word. You pronounce it as "Dom."
