Please motivate me. I've not yet completed my Christmas shopping. I've not decorated my house. I'm feeling a lack of Christmas spirit. And I don't do a lot of buying or decorating. It's just making the time to get it done, I'm not in the mood. Yet.

Tempt me with something....cookies, perhaps?

no one here is in the mood nor seems to care either......
there are no decorations and no shopping being done.
Her hubby is...on the road.........and She is gone 12 hrs a day.....
and i spend 99% of my time alone.......with 2 dogs..

ah well

it's life.........the real world must be attended to first...

take care

Not easy to find the motivation.. I try to recall, days when I was grateful for what I had. I also notice in th paper stories of people with Horrible problems which does remind me that some folks are Lots worse off.. Just something to start my holiday motor... Good Luck, SavageBeast.

Go to the mall...find the tree with wishlists of children in social services and play Santa for them. That will definitely give you the Christmas spirit and give them a better Christmas too. It will probably be the only gift they get for Christmas.

KatyLied -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 9:02:39 AM)

Yep, doing that tree card thingy too.

quietkitten -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 10:25:57 AM)

The thing that finally motivated me (a few years back) was letting go of the "me" centered Christmas and focusing on other people.
I started doing some volunteer work that meant something to me personally. I have way to much stuff... and so do most of the people I know, so the decision to help out those who don't have much came pretty naturally. I gave my sis a donation in her name to a children's charity. She gave me an "adopt a polar bear"
We both help out meals on wheels and my workplace adopts a family through the Christmas bureau. Yesterday we had an auction of items donated by staff members to raise money. It is fun and means something to me.
I made people's favourite cookies and treats as gifts for friends. The whole thing costs a little more time, but the holidays have meaning again.

Good luck and Happy Holidays [:)]

I hate the holidays. HATE. The Grinch? LOVE him. That is, until he gets all mushy and lovey and all. Sellout!

The only good thing about the holidays: giving presents. I love shopping for my friends.

There should just be a Presents Day, where we have snacks and presents. The first of every month, maybe.

happypervert -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 12:09:39 PM)

Fill your head with images of how you could be bound with the ribbons and bows and stuck under a Christmas tree like a festive fuck doll present for your favorite fella. Dunno if that will motivate you, but maybe you won't mind the holiday season so much.

KatyLied -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 12:14:22 PM)

Ah, that makes the holiday season look wonderfully bright.

Quivver -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 1:58:30 PM)

I love the holidays! I love having an excuse to send the people I love cute cards and not have them think I've lost my mind and am being excessively sweet/peaceful/joyful.

I love having an official excuse to shop! I love shopping for the perfect present for the people I love. The only downside or reason I have some blues about it now is because I work less since becoming a mom, and so can't buy as many or as nice a present as I am accustomed to doing... But everyone was duly warned when the lil one came to be, and fortunately, I've accumulated enough kool points that everyone still loves what they get or don't get. M

caitlyn -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 5:38:46 PM)

Hang a wreath on the door ...
Shop online ...
Buy some cookies ...
Stuff the gifts you bought in gift bags ...

Being finished will be better for your holiday spirit than anything we could suggest here. [;)]

Sensualips -> RE: Xmas....Motivate Me! (12/8/2005 8:02:15 PM)

Katy, you need to expereince the holiday with all five senses.

First, the sights -- one of the traditional symbols of Christmas.
Santa Baby

Next, the smell and the taste. I suggest you make cherry bombs. Buy a jar or marichino cherries. Pour out all the juice. Replace with the liquor of your choice. (I like vanilla vodka.) Sit in the fridge from now until Christmas Eve. Drain them and dip in melted chocolate. Mmmm.

Then, the sounds. Maybe check out the holiday music thread.

If you do all that, maybe you will get to the feeling of Christmas.

This year I have felt the same way. I've just spent the last month spending over a grand just to get ready to some degree. Normally I go all out on Christmas for everyone. Never caring if I get anything beyond a thank you in return. The last few year's since my mother passed away, well the holidays have changed a bit.
So, you continue on for your friends and family, not for yourself. As Quiet stated, adopt someone for Christmas. Invite friends over. Works for me anyway.
My normal Christmas is about 5 grand...so you can see where I'm coming from here. We did however put the lights up yesterday and we are determined to go find the perfect tree this weekend.

If you're ever in California I'll even bake you that cookie.
