Ok, if this is the cruelest statement that you have seen so far you need to devolope thicker skin. I'm just throwing something out there that concerns me. I think that the fact that he is african american just adds another dimention to the assination scenario, thats all. Just becouse he's not afraid of biggots doesn't mean that they aren't out there.


Don't worry too much about it, zach. In our politically correct liberal media run culture, any statement that involves a white person making a reference to Obama's skin color will automatically be screened by the "racial filter" and be processed by the American brain as "I don't want Obama to win because he's black. White Power!"

This really only validates your fear that America isn't ready for a black president.

And really validates my fear that America isn't ready for to vote for a black president, given the constant surfacing of thought of propeling him into the Oval Office solely so we can make African American history and not because of his strong character or politics.

Another thing, whenever one says I am not a racist, but, there is a question of racial motivation in the statement.

yeah, I knew when I made the post that this would happen. I really think that some people live in a fantasy world where everyone loves each other and everything is perfect. As you well know we don't live in a fantasy world and there are way too many nut cases out there that wouldn't think twice about doing something terrible that would turn this country upside down.

If I can give you some advice...

From now on, whenever you broach a controversial subject like this, don't apologize or defend yourself. Don't say "I'm not a racist, but..." or "I'm not a sexist, but....". Just say your peice and let your own words show their intentions to the people capable of reading and comprehending things.

Such phrases will only fuel their venom.

As an outside observer trying to understand the issue, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to where the bashing of Barrack Obama occured in this thread.

Saying "I don't think America is ready for a black president" is a opinion regarding the current state of society and is a far cry from "Barrack Obama shouldn't be president because he is black" which is a racist statement.

Thank you for continueing to prove my point though by refusing to attempt to understand what is being communicated as opposed to what you want to read and be offended by.

The OP did not wish an assasination attempt on Mr. Obama. Nor did he wish a national disaster on this country. he expressed a concern that we would have that if it happened.

I wasn't going to go there, but I will in light of this response.

Why it the automatic assumption that the African Americans will cause riots, burn buildings, rape and pillage and kill kittens if there is attempt on Obama's life ? Isn't that a tad bit racist ? Isn't that presuming that African Americans cannot handle what " white folks " can without resorting to violence ?

Call me naive, God forbid this ever come to fruition, but if it ever were to I do not expect " a national disaster" or widespread rioting,pillaging and violence. I give African Americans much more credit than that. I also do not think there will be a successful attempt on his life. Perhaps an attempt as seems to be the pattern in this country.  There has already been one attempt/plot on his life and I do not recall any National disasters happening.

skating the line between worry and obsession is key.  i've learned that it's pretty useless to worry about things that haven't happened.  let's not forget how resilient americans are...i believe we are much stronger as a whole than many think.  there are huge changes on the horizon and we'll come out of it a stronger country for them.  it might take some adjusting, but we will.  ......my optimistic viewpoint for the evening.

As much as I think Obama is the wrong guy for the job,  what would happen to this country would be too horrible to comprehend.  I would fight like hell to vote him out in four years but don't even want to even contemplate what we would be doing to each other in this country if, God forbid, something like that happened. I happen to Colen Powell too..he's experienced, he has proven leadership qualities, and I agree with most of the things he stands for.


So cory, if you think so highly of Colin Powell, what would you think if Powell endorsed Obama for president?

There have been absolutely ZERO "assassination attempts" on Obama.

There was one guy who, in a conversation with some buddies said...."I'll kill that guy if he gets in" or some words to that effect.  He was interviewed and let go on the "asshole" legal premise....

i.e., he was an asshole.

The next one (who is currently being interviewed) said, at a McCain/Palin rally "KILL HIM!!!!!".

Also an asshole.

None, neither....not one...has attempted to kill Obama.

Nada.
