I hate this time of year. I have a problem with it the same time every year. It starts in October and goes right through until after Christmas. Can't stand all those idiots pushing and shoving people in the mall, stumbling over eachother to get that perfect gift for that thrice removed aunt they normally don't give a shit about. I hate the way people drive. I hate the falseness that Christmas has become, nothing more than a gimme gimme fest and some fat knob in a santa suit. Visa and Mastercard love it. The merchants love it. They were successful. They got what they wanted.. They trashed Christmas.. So now I'll glue Myself to the computer and wish it would all go away.

The point of what I am saying, Feline, is this. you are not alone. I hear you. I do not know if W/we have the same reasons, but W/we share the same problem. I just hope that you find the answers that you are looking for. The best thing I can suggest is collect some money, empty your piggybanks and adopt a needy child this Christmas from the Salvation Army. That is what Christmas is all about.

Just OPT OUT. It's very do-able. Been working for me for a long time. After a few years of opting out I started dipping in here and there doin' only the things that feel 'real' to me.

When I had my studio I put a call out to people who didn't want to be the token single at someone's family gathering but didn't want to spend the day alone. It was pot luck and, as far as I know, a very nice christmas for everyone. We ate, we laughed and danced and played and socialized. It was good and didn't involve commercialism, gift giving or stress.

I recommend it to everyone.

Yes, opting out is a good idea I think. I didn't even put a Christmas decoration out so far this year. I could not find My little miniature two foot tree so I did not bother with anything. I have to endure Christmas at My girlfriend's house (it is for her. I think it would hurt her deeply if I did not) and other than that I think I am safe, as long as I do not get into an accident on My way to and from My service calls.

Sorry if I rained on someone's parade. I guess the real truth is that this is a time of suffering to some degree or other for many people. Just remember them in your prayers if you would.
